Safelite took care of everything and even sent out their bmw specialist to do the job. Couldn't have gone any smoother than it did. Don't even bother taking it to the dealer. They will just laugh at you.
Thank you...

The plastic on the b pillars rattle..
The info center rattles...
Some where in the door cards rattle..
I'm sure there's more just the ones that bug the crap outta me...

I have 5000 miles on this car but it sounds like it should have 50000...

N stop bragging about how great your windshield is...NO ONE LIKES A BRAGGER...HAHAHA ?

Steve
Mine rattles like crazy too, it is annoying as hell, but oh well I still love the car. plus oil burning issue is easily solved, get some 5w-30/40 and no more oil burning

Had it happen on my RC-F going 5mph over a speed bump (@ ~3K miles)... but so far the MKV has survived. Safelite should handle everything though - when Lexus did my replacement, that's who actually did it (on the Lexus lot).

The stiffer the chassis, the more likely it is for slight variances to cause problems. I'd be surprised if your average Explorer driver has ever had one crack... but you can put your fingers between the body panels - so there's a ton of "wiggle room" in that.

What kind of rattles do you have? I have a clunk over sharp bumps coming from the hatch area (I tightened the bump stops, and removed all the flat tire gear) I have creaks in the headliner, and my door locks rattle constantly. I can't believe the rattles my car has had since day one. My windshield is still intact though.
Did you check that all four parcel shelf attachment points are fully engaged? The ones at the rear tend to pop up if you stuff the cargo area to the brim and will the clunk on bumps if not pressed down again

Boy...I really don't know who I screwed but...
Glass is now cracked straight across the windshield...which isn't a big deal as I'd prefer a full replacement over an epoxy fill...

BUT on my way home I get a chassis fault...
Has to be something to do with the lowering springs...oh well guess I'll have something to do this weekend ?..

Yeah...I have not a clue...lol...
I'm hoping it's just a leveling arm installed incorrectly...but the springs have been on for a few weeks with no issues until I took the car to the deal for an oil change n a few other things..
Coincidence?

@freeform911 I blame you for this:
On the highway. Absolutely no one in front of me, doing ~80mph, I hear a faint ding noise and the biggest crack I've ever experienced!

Mind you that it starts from the top of the glass. I hate Michigan. Why the fuck are there so many stones on the highway. Lazy MDOT!

I've Geico, will submit claim tomorrow. Anyone know if this would be a replace and replace with OEM? who knows when part will be available..

What did yours look like?

Hmm should I be going Safelite replacement? It's what Geico is offering. Seems I can get it to a shop of my choosing as well... I really have 0 experience with glass.
Any ideas???

Hahaha...yup all my fault..are you my wife...lol...

My crack looked looked exactly like that..started at the top n cracked down to the bottom of the sensors...sorry no pics..
I had mine replaced today (Saturday afternoon)..
OEM glass..took less then a week from the time I put the claim in...
Here glass is replaced 100% free with insurance
I have USAA insurance... satelite is there recommended service provider but I chose to go with an independent local shop...

The only issue with going with an independent shop is they don't have the capability to recalibrate the electronics...I believe satelite is a one stop shop...
I have an appointment at the dealership first thing Monday morning to get everything recalibrated..was told it takes a few hours?
Seems like a long time but ok..

Good luck dude...hope everything works out for ya...

Thanks man! To trust Safelite with calibration or not... I'll call up my dealer and see if they can even do it and what the cost would be..

Hope it goes smoothly for you man! Fingers crossed.

I was told by the person that did mine, the glass was only about $600 retail...not overly expensive...
You don't get free glass replacement with full coverage insurance?

If I had to do it again I'd probably just go the safelite route...just for the convenience...
As is I had to take my car to the dealership where the glass company was supposed to be...now I need to take it back to the dealer for calibration...a little time consuming n inconvenient...

But definitely do what you're the most comfortable with...

The windshield install is pretty basic...really nothing special about it...

@freeform911 Good to hear you got it fixed! Did you go in with the wiper arms removed?

I usually have Safelite do my windshield so prep the car before they come..

Just a heads up...if you have Toyota do the calibration expect to pay about $600...

I just got it done today at the dealership and spent out $580...
Luckily my insurance reimburses me the cost?...

Who do you have for insurance?
USAA...
In South Carolina all glass replacement is cover 100% with full coverage insurance...with zero deductible and no increase in premiums...
