I started to go down this Rabbit Hole myself, but I couldn't remember for inelastic collisions (which a gear change/clutch pack grab is) if you're supposed to find the difference of squares i x (omega2^2-omega1^2) or Square the difference i x (omega2-omega1)^2. :dunno:

You could probably just claude it though. Anything at sonnet tier or higher should trivially be able to do the math

Oh christ........... that's more math than I really care to do atm with inelastic collisions lol. Was using the formula in the video but I'll just leave it at .......... "it's less punchy". Looking forward to seeing your data

From what I remember, the effective inertia of an traditional (non-MGU) alternator is somewhere in the ballpark of ~10% of the rest of the engine system (including crank, recip assembly, and flywheel/flexplate, excluding everything else downstream of the clutch). So I would expect the upshift time to reduce by something like 10-20% quicker, tops, assuming the same clamp load.

Obviously, the tensioner is going to be happier regardless of the actual amount, since we're not momentarily turning the slack side into the taut side. The strom video shows the tensioner slap pretty well.

Looking at the data with MHD logs, results are inconclusive. I don't have enough resolution to really zoom in to the slope mid-shift - it's always 2 datapoints from peak to trough.
