Hello! Finally decided to go the JB4/DP route. Currently on Map 1 with the recommended Duty Bias and FF adjustments on the 1st page while waiting to hear from @Jesse DaBears to get me situated.

Assuming he takes the weekends off, so I wanted to make sure I don't have any glaring issues until we get the process started. Also just curious to learn more about it.

From what I understand, throttle is closing, but didn't seem to be overboosting?

Mods are Armytrix catless DP, Boostlogic exhaust, and HKS intake w/box.

Thanks!

yeah you are good to go until your custom map, throttle closure isnt that bad but you could drop duty4000 and under by 5 or so to clean it up

If I run catless and my FF adaptation is set to 30, can I drop duty below 30 or 30 is basically my floor
FF is multiplied by duty to set the actual wastegate position during a pull. both ranges are 0-100

rarely does FF go higher than 60 even on stock DP, you will max the turbo 70+

Hi Colonel!

I recently installed a used JB4, updated the firmware and checked to make sure settings looked unmodified. Would you mind taking a look at my log?

Datazap Link: https://datazap.me/u/dem340i/2021-supra-93oct-jb4-map-1-intake-exhaust-68f-trac?log=0&data=1-4

Some run details:
-2021 Supra
-MAP1
-Stock DP
-Aftermarket Intake and Exhaust Installed
-Traction control was off
-68 Degrees outside during the pull.

I notice my timing is staying super low in all cylinders and there was a little throttle closure around 4k RPM. I am wondering if I can move on to trying MAP2 with this data.

Thanks so much!
Brandon

You can try setting FF to 40 to see if it'll bring boost down some and timing will improve.

at that IAT, you don't really want ecu_psi >16

Oh I know where to find it. I am just saying at what point do you lower FF from 30 to 25? Can he just adjust duty instead of FF
curious as well. I’ve only dropped ff 30 left duty bias alone. Not sure if I need to touch that or not. Ff dropped to 30 helped, might try 25 if it doesent make any sense to touch duty.

Theres really no difference to lowering FF vs lowering all duty bias, its just quicker.

Its best to set FF based on my recommendations in the first post, dependent on downpipe. I spent the time figuring out those ideal ranges to isolate that variable so you guys can just focus on duty bias for fine tuning (more of a car-by-car basis)

In a case where I see throttle closing across the entire rev range, I will lower FF. If its only throttle closure under 5k, for example, I will just adjust duty bias.

in a case where throttle is extremely messy and boost is all over the place, lowering FF is always a good place to start. I'd rather start my revisions with a slight underboost than an overboost. Just easier to evaluate the logs.

usually don't need to adjust duty bias at all with a stock downpipe. Sometimes small changes can help but rarely are there big throttle closures that affect drivability.

Having a go at it myself I have continued to lower FF and Duty in pursuit of no closures, ECU PSI below 16psi, and Calc Torque below 48

I want to keep chasing ecu psi but is it ok to have such low FF and Duty 3k and lower? Is it normal for the boost to peak then dip so much? It seems like I've taken some steps forward but with not much lower to go on duty and FF I don't know what to do. Since the throttle closures are minor in the most recent pulls should I worry about it? I rarely put my car in a pre 3K rpm Wot situation.

Hot day pull, no throttle closures, ecu psi still high

MOST RECENT
Did some more pulls when it was slightly cooler and ran into throttle closures again. I lowered Duty some more and still seeming to struggle with closures and ecu psi.

No longer attempting
Also played with some Map 6 additive to taper boost before 3k rpm
