If it's a part of the roof, would it look like the Camry where the A pillars and C pills are black on an XSE?

Or maybe, the carbon fiber is dropped in favor of maintaining Tada's request to be at 55k, while weighing just a little more? Realistically, how much weight can be saved from carbon fiber roof versus non carbon fiber? 10-20 pounds?

rhetorical scenarios must be new in your neck of the woods :)
Love your confidence, let’s hope Toyota doesn’t leave you with your pants down.

Many times it is done like this:

TRD also used the same method on the Griffon 86 and the limited production car that followed. The reason I mentioned the a-pillar was that if they could manage to make the entire roof CF, all pillars included, that would be far more drastic an improvement than just a skin on top.

Not sure how much weight it saves, but it could help push that lower CG figure Tada loves throwing out there.

In my mind, I thought that's how Toyota would do it, but I wondered if the CF roof would mess with the overall paint and look to the vehicle for prospective buyers and went with the A and C pillar CF likeness on the Camry.

The Griffon 86 and Lexus RC you posted makes it work. I was thinking something that consumed the whole roof in obsidian black

Yeah, I definitely don't have new information on it, at least yet. I've put it on a list of things to ask when I see Tada or one of his juniors.

Nothing real exciting, but today I was able to speak with one of the Lexus engineers that was around my old team, and he said they're still saying target weight is ~1400kg.

And a quote from one of Moto's posts: "The underpinning subframes are similar, but the main body structure is a completely different sibling cars, as neither of these cars are designed to have a variation of both.

That I confirmed."

So while the Toyobarus were siblings at birth, these are.....adopted?

I would say the 86/BRZ are identical twins. The Z4/Supra are more like step brothers.

how about the 124/Miata?
Let's not get off topic but imo these two take it a step further than what the Z4/Supra are going to be. They only share the same frame and body structure but everything else is different including the powertrain. If I had to label it I would say they're cousins.

More like non identical twins. Step brothers share no DNA, and even normal brothers isn't quite right, too much different.

For some reason I wrote step brothers when I meant half brothers (long day at work). I think that's what describes them the best.
