Ok, ill play along...All it takes is a like.![]()
Then again, maybe the NDA getting thrown by Toyota might even be a boa constrictor for even hinting or liking anything on the engineering aspect. I don't know what they have under the hood but once again, think of it this way. Toyota would theoretically be pretending they did their homework to the teacher(public) when it's their turn to show their assignment but is just fumbling and pretending they have it when they don't. This isn't a stupid child, they are to set a precedent for their show, get what I mean?Ok, ill play along...

Six to seven years of planning can't roll into dealerships as something entirely different than what was agreed and requested in their research. We can't change the BMW parts either as that helped cut costs. If your principle is wanting a pure Toyota sports car without outside help, that's a different matter and I understand your frustrations and choosing not to buy. In the end, it's your money first and foremost and you have the power to decide what's worth spending on.
But once again, their brand image would hurt extensively in the automotive world for enthusiasts if this is horrendous and a simple cash grab, Especially after taking the 1st place trophy for Le mans and doubling their efforts for racing efforts via gazoo. Perhaps if the car wasn't called a Supra, it'd be received different. Or maybe the sales executive said throw the Supra name to get everybody's attention and have pride in owning a car with that tag, like a 911, M3, etc...
Least if it is a flop, you can spam I told ya so across the entire board and we can't say a word.
We should save the torches and Pitchforks for when they actaully put out confirmed details on the car. As of now everyone is getting upset over rumors.Well said buddy....
One thing alot of people here don't understand about the way I "perceive" things about the MKV Supra is....I look at things through an engineers goggles. At work, we are constantly reminded (at least in software engineering) that "the pretty stuff comes last...worry about the ugly stuff first (aka logic and code efficiency)." That's why when I see all this hype about the car being called a "Supra" or "vents" or "recaro seats" or whatever, to me it's all just fluff. It sounds like cover-up makeup to distract the audience from the "ugly stuff" underneath. We see this all the time in our industry...competitors (primarily European competitors) who engineer (excuse my language) shit relays, logic boards, and extremely inefficient code yet make some of the most beautiful looking PLC's and switch gear on earth. Ring a bell yet?...(i.e., Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Land Rover, etc...). Our Japanese partners (I won't mention names) make some of the most boring and bland looking gear in our industries, however, they consistently outlast the other competitors gear year after year because of their high quality and extreme durability. Again, ring a bell yet?...(i.e., Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc...). I honestly truly hope that Toyota succeeds with the MKV Supra...I don't know how else to say it. However, let's be real here shall we....there isn't any concrete info from anyone (not on this forum at least) that points to this car being some amazing car that's truly worthy of the Supra nameplate. Right? I mean, do you know something the rest of us don't? As much as A70TTR hints at things (which again, we all appreciate as it makes the forum that much more interesting), it's just background noise at this point. There is nothing that's concrete....nothing! The last article I read (a few posts back) had some good information from the Chief Engineer himself in which he came out and said, "the Supra will share the same drive-train as it's BMW counterpart." To me, if the counterpart was a M3/M4 then I would be a bit more accepting of this because M3/M4's are track proven high-end sports cars....historically speaking direct competitor to MKIV Supra. However, when the counterpart is a Z4 (a car made for old retired bankers and not known for much involvement in motorsports), it really makes one think...."what the f**k was Toyota thinking?"
I think we are all over-hyping this car....and as they say "making a mountain out of a mole hill." The bigger the hype, the harder this car will fall at launch. Let's just be patient and continue to respect each others opinion of this car and not try to take "hints" too seriously. At the end of the day, Toyota is an engineering company, and paying their engineers 401k's and dental plans are at the top priority....not resurrecting the 2JZ.
This is stupidest thing I have ever read...."we're ok with it mostly because we have no choice." Just stop....don't say anything more.Fortunately for some of us, we're ok with it mostly because we have no choice. It is what it is. We're getting a form of vehicle we've wanted from Toyota for a while. The faster people accept the reality of this vehicle, the better it is. There's no point in "what could have been".

You have no choice, so your going to make a dumb purchase because "oh well...that's the crap we got"???? Shut up...just shut up.
And for your information, I only repeat my responses to the repeated questions or comments from others who bring up my name or my comments. Read....it helps. Quit being a bandwagoneer and have some real opinions rather than regurgitate what others are saying.
Terrible analogy btw....So, if done correctly, we can have a pretty PLC expected from BMW with the actual proper coding and layering one would expect from Toyota.
Consider that if we're discussing "recaros" and all that as ideas and opinions would simply imply that we are at peace with what components may make up this vehicle and we've moved on from the constant bitching and moaning about the car using BMW parts who's quality and lifespan I'm sure everyone is aware of. When an opinion is voiced once, people look at it and think. But when the same thing is repeated over and over again it becomes irritating. It was stated from day 1 that it will be a shared platform. Common sense would tell you that they would use alot of BMW parts. Fortunately for some of us, we're ok with it mostly because we have no choice. It is what it is. We're getting a form of vehicle we've wanted from Toyota for a while. The faster people accept the reality of this vehicle, the better it is. There's no point in "what could have been". The way I see it, one can take the positives from the vehicle thus far and await the rest OR if by now you're still not pleased with it, its probably time to move on. At least till the car comes out.

Not sure if @PerformanceSound is interpreting this as @GT-Four meant it, its not how I interpret those comments.
If I was a software engineer, you'd want to ask where I got my degree from and have the committee revoke my privilegesTerrible analogy btw....![]()
