Hello,
I was just browsing the ol’ BMW forums and happened to come across this gem. If anyone was worried too much about the B58, just know that we have at least a good stage 2 tune.
If any of you have followed recent BMW tuning for the B58, one of the earliest to crack the new ECU was Mission Performance. They recently managed to flash the transmission. They upped the amount of torque its clutch pack could take and removed its torque limiter.
The result is a 340i equipped with the B58 making 435whp and 457wtq with SAE correction on a 91 and e85 blend. I would say that is quite a lot for a bolt on 340i without the TU revision.
Mission Performance says these numbers are achievable with only 93 octane and no other modifications. Which means this car makes as much as most BPU A80 TT’s.
