Toyota FT-1 concept & A90 Supra design dissected

Do you care if the next Supra has a "corporate image?"

  • No, as long as it looks good, I don't care if the rest of Toyota's line up is designed around it.

  • Yes, the Supra should be completely unique looking even among Toyota's fleet.

The problem I have with the Jalopnik render, aside from being very ugly, is that it looks like they're including the fake "shelf" at the bottom of the front bumper of the mule that looks to be part of a camo piece.

This! And they also used the 1st prototype for their rendering. As we all know quite a bit has changed.

i know the front nose is probably added on there to hide the real look, but the nose could look something like this

i agree that "shelf" in the jalopnik pic is exaggerated, but i still think it's the closest depiction.

one thing that leads me to believe this, is the fact that they correctly depicted the 2 vertical slats that come off the "nose". the early spy shots had that entire area covered up. their pic came out and it didnt really correlate with the FT1 concept so we were all skeptical. but then the newer spy shots came out and lo and behold, it correlates to the jalopnik pic. clearly the drawing was based off of someone who saw the actual car. calty studio janitor or something?

You're right - the front end does look accurate.

That said, it doesn't look like it has the mandatory safety bumper (think vertical width) between the headlights and openings, so if that was a bit larger it'd look less stupid.

fingers crossed iut maintains the aggression of the FT1

Maybe someone did give Jalopnik a hint at the from bumper, but that doesn't mean everything else is correct. Like others have said, the second prototype has a lot more body lines to it. Does anyone really think Jalopnik's rendering is good looking? Toyota has hinted at a $50k-$60k price. IMO that rendering design doesn't match the price tag. Its more like a $30k Z fighter to me. And whats really sad is that the $25k 86 looks a hell of a lot better.

i dont like how all of these renders are blacking out the lip. i'd much rather have the 2 vertical pieces coming off the nose be blacked out and the lip be body colored. look at the new camry for instance...
