A70TTR, who I have referenced, is a real forum member here who works or did as of his last postings work within the Lexus engineering division. He's backed off from posting but did bring up the points I've reiterated when he was still active here. I fail to understand what is "AI" about him, especially as I'm someone who makes it a personal point to avoid generative AI news sources, generative AI artwork in any medium, AI in searches and who avoids ChatGPT like the plague.Nobody go harder on this forum than the conspiracy theorists and their fake AI news sources…
Don’t waste your time…all of ‘his’ posts are just negative takes about someone’s wife, AI-this-or-that, or other nonsense. Let’s get back to the real discussion; things are actually getting interesting.A70TTR, who I have referenced, is a real forum member here who works or did as of his last postings work within the Lexus engineering division. The concept car we've all been discussing is an actual physical mockup that Toyota has shown off.
The scant information we do have about the future plans for the G16E, G20E and their solid state battery tech all relate back to press releases and officially sanctioned interviews from Toyota GR's own people.
Since this is a Japanese company we're talking about here which is infamous for trying to be cagey up to the last minute and encourages reading between the lines of its statements we've just been discussing possibilities of how we think these upcoming models may pan out.
...
By all means, please tell us *your* version of how you think one or more upcoming models may come to fruition in the near future. I'm very interested to hear your own thoughts on each specific upcoming model or concept which may lead to a new specific model.
There has to be a SC/MKIV rebirth coming. I just know it!Those GR GT3/LFR de-camo renders look exceptionally good. Personally I love a tough, all business and purposeful high performance car design.
PerformanceSound, the silver other concept model with the face re-render looks a lot better than what Lexus officially released IMO. They surely won't do anything remotely like that but they should.
That would be great if so. We'll see...There has to be a SC/MKIV rebirth coming. I just know it!
That was the beauty of the SC/MKIV....they were all business in the right departments! On the outside, they were mostly plain-jane panels, no hard transitions, edges, complex geometries, etc... However, on the inside (under the skin) they were beyond what most manufacturers had. We need that....it will keep costs down, or at least lower while giving us the good stuff. Keeping fingers crossed. That would be great if so. We'll see...
I mean... the actual platform sharing strategy to make the Supra MKVI and a new Lexus coupe to keep costs somewhat down is already known. Will that coupe actually be badged as an "SC" (or Soarer)...?
Whatever the Lexus variant is eventually called it'll have a performance oriented body and suspension and hopefully potential performance engine and driveline options that would put it more in line with the 91-00 JZZ30 Soarer 1JZ ethos back in the day rather than the nerf'd-from-the-factory U.S./Canadian SC300 ethos.
Somehow I don't think Lexus would do that to a new SC again in today's market.
Hopefully Lexus wants an SC300/SC400/Soarer turbo successor rather than an SC430 successor. In factory form that would be a welcome first outside the Japanese home market. Auto and manual options with a high performance turbo engine and an LSD out back would be on the wishlist.
The LC is a beautiful GT inside and out. For me the down side is the price tag. I'm paraphrasing A70TTR, but it's expensive for a parts bin car. Another let down was the lame hybrid V6 that nobody wanted, but they canned the V8 turbo, smh Toyota...Yuck. The LC is too big and too floppy as it is, and the engine is has now isn't doesn't even get it up to $50k sports car standards, much less $100k. The LC is an objectively terrible sports car. People are just so enamored with its looks to notice.
"but it's a GT car" = making excuses. Caddy can make cars that handle well, GLH, and be comfortable enough to take on a date.
I love the looks of LC! It truly gives off “modern MKIV” vibes. The LC is a beautiful GT inside and out. For me the down side is the price tag. Maybe it will look better in person but it looks a bit too busy for my taste.
