Currently have DWS 06 on my supra. Theyre pretty much done due to drifting, so I am looking for my next set of tires. I am doing a track weekend at NJMP in September. Was looking to buy tires next week. Ideally I'd like to be able to do some regular driving around town in between all the autocross I am going to do this summer. Im in between getting a set of PS4S, or going straight to 200TW. I see some people online saying that with even moderate pace the 300TW tires like the PS4S and the EC start to delaminate. In that case would it just be better to go straight to 200TW, or would I be fine to track on some PS4S? I do plan to get a second set of wheels to mount track tires on them for next year. For now my main concern is being able to drive around the city, autocross, and do a track weekend at the end of the summer.

200tw for sure. I'm a fan of continental ExtremeContact Force for consistency and longevity.

the only downside is they won't be great at autox, because they take some time to heat up. if you are more focused on autox then maybe try the new bridgestone re71rz. the hoosier track attack pro would be another option if you're not planning on driving in the wet.

Full tread ECS or PS4S at a track day that's hot do have a chance of chunking or delamination. It's highly dependent on pace and ambient temp along with tread depth itself. As the tread depth gets lower they become much more resistant to damage from tread squirm.

The delta on track between a 300tw and 200tw is usually about 1 second per 60 seconds of lap time, but can vary depending how much time is spent turning. If you went somewhere like Roebling where it's all just turns with one straight, you'd see a larger delta, but somewhere like Road America with super long straights, the delta would be less.

Given your requirements, and the fact you're just doing daily driving plus autox now with the track weekend later in the year I think you'd be perfectly fine on PS4S. Optimal is what you're planning on with a second set of wheels specifically for track stuff, and then a set for daily.
