Ok guys, maybe someone can provide some clarification. I got an allocation from a dealer in NJ and put a deposit down. They gave me the VIN for the car and told me they are seeing it being shipped this week from the build plant. Well I try to look up the VIN on Toyota tracker and get the error but other people are getting the error too so I don’t think much of it. Then I try to look it up on Toyota.com and when I enter it it says “please enter a valid VIN” so it’s not even working on their site. But then I type in the VIN on carfax and it pulls up no problem, so I’m confused how carfax knows about my car but Toyota doesn’t? The last 6 of my VIN are all numbers so I don’t think it’s a temporary VIN. Any ideas?

Just got home from picking up the Supra. Transaction was smooth as glass, and even got what I wanted for my trade.

For those who are interested, a short version of my path to this car for future reference:
- Contacted dealer in July, placed deposit and preference was put in
- Dealer found a 2022 in October, but it was 600 miles away and I didn't want the miles put on the car without me at the wheel
- Allocation came through in early November for this car
- Arrived stateside in mid December
- Final delivery to my dealer was January 20th

So if you do not include my initial waiting for the preference to be filled, from allocation to delivery was about 2 1/2 months.

Congratulations. The color looks stunning with the new wheels.

My dealer sent me an updated screenshot. The car is still at the port, and is waiting for rail depart.

Expected deliver is Mid Feb to Mid March range...

@omfgzilla.
…. what is yours cars status?
@JTN and I were basically in sync with timing and delivery albeit cars were 300-400 miles apart.

On a Bill Of Materials list piled up with other paper work on Magna Steyr's operations managers desk! ??????????
From my best guess mine went from build order to delivered in about 2 1/2 months, which isn't that long when you consider it had to be built then cross an ocean and half the continent to get to my dealer.

Tom Petty told us the waiting is the hardest part, but from my experience the hardest part was the longer period of not knowing. I went a good four months between my deposit and what I'd call solid confirmation I was actually getting the car. Knowing you have a build date and a VIN is gold, as I still see a lot of folks here posting that their allocations are still unknown.

This wait is killing me. I'm still under allocation status and no build date confirmed from my dealer

Mine was built 01/09 and allocated on 01/20. Dealer says it's supposed to be loaded on a boat on 02/07.

That tracking website still just says allocated for now.

Put my $500 refundable deposit down Dec 8th

Received allocation from dealer Jan 7th which was kinda surprising considering there was supposedly 3 people in front of me on their list. I’m guessing they didn’t like the color (Nitro yellow) or couldn’t buy anymore due to higher rates or whatever.

Jan 23rd I asked if any build date was assigned and was told that it’s actually waiting at port to be docked and processed. A couple days later my status changed to F and while I have no official estimated date I’m assuming it will arrive mid to late February, assuming 3-4 week freight time.

Worth pointing out this is all for MSRP. Given Minnesota isn’t a very sport car friendly state I actually could not find any dealer here selling above MSRP at all. My dealer, Rudy Luther Toyota told me when asked about this that their dealer network has strictly not sold anything above MSRP throughout the entire pandemic. There is actually a CU Later Grey A91 MT that just arrived at another dealer here that’s been sitting for weeks at MSRP with no buyer, assuming their site is up to date.

Entirely possible that your car was on the same boat as mine. Check out the lightspeed on this build… 01/04 build date, 01/24 in port, 01/30 released to truck, possible delivery today 02/01. Benefits of being so close to Baltimore probably…
