If you really liked your 2.0 the GR86 is a contender as well. My wife has a GR86 and its fun as you describe. I live in a place where I can find some empty country roads and rip my Supra whenever I feel like it.

I for one understand your dilemma though. It's basically the "slow car fast" argument.

This is why you need to opt out of lexisnexis data selling and not use the Toyota app or insurance apps on your phone. At least turn off location tracking and cellular on the app in your phone settings. There are threads about this. They will absolutely use the data against you.
i thought this was just fear mongering so i googled it and damn, you were right. wasn't even an insurance app or obd dongle.

Upon Mr. Dahl’s request, LexisNexis sent him a 258-page “consumer disclosure report,” which it must provide per the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

What it contained stunned him: more than 130 pages detailing each time he or his wife had driven the Bolt over the previous six months. It included the dates of 640 trips, their start and end times, the distance driven and an accounting of any speeding, hard braking or sharp accelerations. The only thing it didn’t have is where they had driven the car.

On a Thursday morning in June for example, the car had been driven 7.33 miles in 18 minutes; there had been two rapid accelerations and two incidents of hard braking.

According to the report, the trip details had been provided by General Motors — the manufacturer of the Chevy Bolt.

In today's world your personal data is the most valuable currency anybody can own. Many times more valuable than any actual monetary currency. Spend it wisely.

My favorite is the guy who got insurance driving score hits for riding a roller coaster with his phone. Seriously fuck anyone who thinks this is okay, protect your data any way possible. Dont use their apps

The app is irrelevant. The car has connected services for emergency assistance and OTA map updates. If they want data on the cars location, movement, speed, etc. they’ll get it.
Period.
You're right. Our data is an invaluable commodity and they’ll stop at nothing to get it.

Luckily for you, most car people hate the 2.0T and it doesn't hold its value nearly as well as the 3.0. So you'll be able to swap the 3.0 for a 2.0 in the future and come out ahead.

I wonder if a lot of your regret stems more from losing the automatic though.

Hate is a strong word, but I agree, I don't think it will hold its value as well, especially when a decent, used 3.0 can be had for around $50k now.

But I agree with OP: I love my 2.0. I get 27.5 average MPG when I boot around town too. And I have full bolt-ons and a RaceChip, but it feels like a low 300 hp, 13-second car butt dyno. That's more than enough power for me to have fun on some backroads. The handling is also amazing for its price point.

Sadly, I'll be trading it in also next year for a G87 M2. I miss driving a manual too much, and the impracticality of the Supra at almost 40 years old has been wearing on me. It's been an amazing four years, though, and I'll be sad to see her go.
