Cobalt Racing Brakes

Toyota GR Supra CRB.XRx.D1867 (Front)

$459.00

Toyota GR Supra CRB.XRx.D1892 (Rear)

$339.00

Cobalt suggests XR1 Front /XR3 Rear or XR2 Front/XR4 Rear (Less aggressive, similar to a Hawk DTC60-30 combo)

I exclusively ran cobalts on the exocet and loved them. Fantastic brakes. They also dont care what compound was on the rotor before so you can pop in race pads at the track and pop street pads back in leaving.

what would be a good set of pads afterwards though? I like to buy ahead of time
Good idea. I used to keep multiple Hawk DTCs in my garage. If repeated stopping power is your primary concern, Hawk DTC 60/30 or Project Mu Club racers will do the trick for ya for a long time. Eventually you’ll find yourself having to brake sooner or trail braking harder & longer as your times go down. Then moving up to Project Mu 999s was the next step for me. Regardless, they all are fantastic pads for the price.

Would these rotors be good for mostly street use/daily driving?
The only difference I’ve noticed is my wife doesn’t like when I buy the non rust prone ones, where we live. Otherwise all those Rockauto.com rotors for our cars are solid ?

Are one-piece rotors like that significantly heavier than the OEM rotors? Or is the difference negligible? Maybe I'm a little too fixated on avoiding added unsprung mass.

I looked at the weight for 1 piece Pagid rotors vs the stock 2 piece rotors and oddly they were nearly identical at around 13 kgs each.

The difference is negligible. Just get the cheapest rotors (that don’t rust, in my case).

Just wanted to say that I’ve been happy with Project Mu Club Racers, Zimmerman rotors (same as OEM style), and Endless RF-650 brake fluid. Only three track days total so far with one on Hallett Motor Racing Circuit and two on COTA. Good braking performance and no fade for an otherwise stock car on Michelin PS4S tires on 19” Apex ML10-RT wheels. I appreciate everyone’s suggestions throughout this thread, especially @razorlab. I’ve been using the Club Racer pads for both track and street and they perform well without sounding like a trash truck during normal driving. I’m just starting out, so not really tracking times yet. Just trying to have fun and start out slowly as I get better at learning driving lines and managing traffic etc. Typical highest speeds at braking zones for my limited track driving are anywhere from 90 to 142mph or so down to between 35-50mph and I’ve never had any braking issues across multiple 20-30 min track sessions. Only trade off is a lot more brake dust during normal driving. Still running stock alignment as well, but may look at camber plates in the next year or so.
