Been contacting all the dealerships 250miles away from San Diego. All of them have a mark up for 5k+ that is insane... Are people actually paying that mark up since they're being sold? I also put a deposit on Longo for a A/T but don't know what place I'm in? I saw someone here has been waiting since October 2021?

I'm in NJ, and most NJ / NY dealerships have at least some markup, though most seem to be in the 1.5k - 3k range.

It’s quite the norm for 5k+ markup. I’m from socal put 4 different deposits that were at msrp but ended up just purchasing out of state for msrp since it was the exact spec I wanted and no wait. Kind of a hassle to purchase out of state dealing with dmv paperwork. Took me more than a year of looking since I was also in the market for the new gr corolla. Worth it in my opinion. Do some research and call all the dealers and every state you can if you’re willing to make the drive or get it shipped.

I was wondering same thing. I felt like throwing this dealer under the bus and shame them publicly but decided to let it go. This socal dealer told me $20k. I laughed. I mean really? I can understand a few thousand maybe but 10-20k? Are people really paying that?! Encouraging bad dealer behavior.

If I may ask how much delivery? I might have to do that. Was it hard dealing with a dealership long distance?

People are definitely paying those markups since I have a few cars that I’ve been following and those ended up being sold. Many dealers are also using the approach of saying they are selling at msrp to lure you in then have all the dealer add ons telling you it’s technically not marked up with all the accessories you get compared to nothing at all with the markup. XD

My delivery was just under 3k in an enclosed trailer shipped from MI to CA. You could opt for a non enclosed trailer for cheaper as well.

It wasn’t hard at all dealing with the dealership out of state. I got my 23 Mt premium strat blue from Kool Toyota Grand Rapids MI. They were really straight forward and patient with me and cooperated with the dmv paperwork and shipping company I used.

First time purchasing out of state too so that was a learning experience to get it registered in CA.

That’s great news & glad to hear your sale went smoothly! My Ft. Myers sales guys was actually very nice. However it was taking too long to get my car so I bought out of state. Their service dept is where my real beef ? is at. Naples service has been worth the short drive (for me).

Hit me up when you plan on doing your free track day ? or if you need any local non-dealer service advice. I found some great shops in our FM/Naples area for after market parts and/or the beyond spec alignment, if you ever go that route. Welcome to this incredible community and mega capable platform ?
Sorry to butt in, but I’ll be doing my track day at RA in June. I’m in Orlando, so not far from you guys.

???

You asked them a simple yes or no question.
And their response is so contradictory in a way that they believe using a open statement “We sell at MSRP……plus “ will persuade you.

It’s a business and they are into making $$, but a straight answer will be much appreciated I guess.

Roughly about a buck per mile. I did one enclosed and one on a standard carrier. Either way, it’s way better than rewarding this upside down market right now. I’d much rather reward any dealer selling at MSRP, imo. It’s a very personal thing but I enjoy my car much more having paid MSRP. But that’s me…

Road Atlanta ? Dang dude!!!! That track is so much fun ? If new at this, please listen to your instructor. You’ll be fine but RA can be intimidating. Especially the “bridge”.

PM me whenever you come to Sebring or Homestead. Only one more date in April and I’m refitting her for daily driving. I’ve got my next track dates set for Oct, Nov, Dec.

Sorry to venture further :offtopic:

Any new buyers, please take advantage of your free track day!

Did they help you find transport or did you set that up yourself?

3 dealers in MD offered me the Stratospheric Blue M/T at MSRP in the last 90 days. Please don't pay those markup numbers!
