What's leading you to sell your Supra right now?

Seen a lot of sale posts on Supra fb groups recently. Curious what's primarily driving owners to post them for sale currently.

In my opinion, people bought at crazy mark ups and feel some remorse over it. And are trying to recoup money while these are still able to sell. At first I kinda thought it was all because *insert BMW LITE joke here*. But I think we are all past that now... I think a lot of people just grow out of them, want bigger cars, more doors, or want to upgrade to a more powerful sports car.
Personally, I'm still having so much fun in mine every day so I'm not at that point. But I could see 5-7 years down the road, upgrading to a 911 Turbo or something.

I also kind of think there are some buyers that bought this just so it will appreciate and become the next hidden gem Supra. I don't know if it will ever get to MKIV levels of popularity, but it's light as hell, fun to drive, and looks great. There should always be a market for them since you can choose between auto and manual and both options bring amazing experiences to the table, different purposes.

Most of the ones I've noticed for sale are a few years old and have had some work done to them. Guessing the primary cause is that they've "maxxed" out the car for what it can do before investing another 20k+ in order to reach the next level.

I still believe the best sports car buy for 60k.

The only reason I would want to sell is to predict a sharp drop in market value...but to what end? The new M cars are amazing, but just so big and bloated. Everything is. Maybe a Lotus Emira? At that price does an M3 make sense? I dunno

I love my Souprah' its been a blast with basic bolt ons and just looks stunning

Been in the BMW Club going on 20+ years... it's the new adult syndrome of buying new toys because they are shiny and fast. But like all toys, if the reason is to be entertained by the toy, it fades (and starts a debt cycle sometimes).

At some point though, we learn to just love the car, take up actual racing, or something that hooks us into the car life where we keep the cars longer.

All the youngins bought them and get tired of things quickly. It’s really nothing wrong with the car they just like to change things up every few months.
Bought mine new in 21 and have no plans to sell.

It is generally a good thing for the platform, as we won't be associated with these people

Yeeeeeah, something tells me the "TikTok brain rot" generation doesn't have the money to buy a $60K car. These are kids in their early 20s, or younger.

The Supra is very solidly a millennial/GenX car. You can safely blame any foolishness on fully grown-ass adults.

Here in Germany, the prices for the 2023 models didn't drop that much. There are currently just under 1900 MK5 in Germany. Not many!
They hold their value pretty well, especially with rare colors.

I currently live in Florida which is a perfect climate for the Supra. If I were to move back to Maryland, I would definitely sell it in favor of a loaded TRD Tacoma. Winter weather doesn't suit the Supra.

I totally get selling or trading based on financial reasons, work-related changes and family needs. However, long-term reliability and anticipated market decline seem silly to me.

The popularity of the MKIV took nearly a decade to flourish and nearly took a dive in value after it was discontinued. There's no way to predict future world events which may tank its value. Or, on the brighter side, be featured in a popular movie that would double it for example.

Regarding long-term reliability, there are several examples of owners with models in the low to mid 100k miles with no issues. BMW and Toyota are very reputable companies. If you maintain it and not drive like YouTuber WhistlinDiesel, it'll be very reliable.

Now the "boredom" and wanting to move to something different or better, depending on your financial wealth, I totally understand. This is my 16th car in my 35 years of driving so I know about the itch for a new toy but my 2020 Supra is the one I've owned the longest with no plans to sell or trade...yet. I was lucky enough to purchase mine new back in August of 2020 for $49k and still don't see anything that entices me to replace it for less than $100k. However, I do yearn for a mid-engined manual sometime in the future...

Probably all the Reddit kids that ask if they make enough to afford it and are told “no” but get one anyway cuz they are living at home and parents co-signed and then realize they can’t afford anything else and are now stuck living with the folks - which probably wasn’t part of their plan.
