When do you need a battery tender?

I take the supra out maybe .. 2 times a week.. quick little trips to the local cars and coffee and to do a date night or joy cruise.. I have seen people talking about using battery tenders, at what level of use are they really required for these batteries we have?

I put mine on a CTEK charger when I store it for the winter. I'd say if it's going to be 2 weeks or more, plug it in.

Anything that supports AGM batteries. My car lives on a battery tender because I hardly drive it. Hook it up at the front and not directly to battery as per manual.

Listed as AGM compatible. Easy to use, inexpensive, and it works just fine. 2 long winters stored without issues.

Good responses here. To summerize:

1. Get a tender that is AGM compatible.
2. Hook up under the hood. You can hook up to the battery but to be safe follow the manual.
3. One week, or even less if you want, of not driving is a more than safe amount of time to hook it up before shit were to happen.

Follow those and you won’t go wrong.

I know, there are cheaper options out there, but I use this one so that, if there's an issue, no one can claim that I fucked up the battery with the wrong maintainer. I pretty much have it on there all the time (I don't drive much - bought it new in 2020 and only have 14K miles lol). Always connect to the charge points under the hood. No issues so far. My hobby cars run battery tenders when I know I will not be driving them for more than 2 days. I only drive them on weekends when weather is nice and I have 3 different hobby cars (all cheap cars for poor stupid people like me) so it can be weeks before I drive them again.
On my daily drivers, I found that it is best to run battery tender if the car was not (or will not be) moved for more than 2 weeks.

I used that same one but not BMW branded before I switched to a lithium battery. $95 on Amazon. Good way to save $65 over the BMW branded one.
