For model year 2022+, 6-cylinder manual transmission option or go home. There has been well enough time since launch to meet the customer demand for it... which should have been anticipated for the first model year anyway.

Maybe due to the covid slowdown that will be delayed as well the GRMN w/S55 engine. Hopefully all of it will stay on schedule.
S55 engine is old they need to go with the S58 or go home in the $100k GRMN version.

A manual transmission would be fine but it’s gonna be a slow supra! Just put the tranny that’s in the new 2022 M4 and we will be fine.
We need a better steering wheel and better looking stock rims. The a91 rims should be the base rims not these silver and black rims. Maybe more carbon on the inside.

the car is almost perfect as is especially the 2021 models

So, we're reaching that time of the year where we are nearing the release of the MY2022 GR Supra. What are you guys expecting? Or is the MY2021 going to ride out during its actual calendar year as well like you see with many other cars that are released as a next model year but it is actually the previous calendar year?

Any insider information other than the manual?
No insider information but I think 2022 will be almost the same as 2021 except Toyota will tweak the mirrors to reduce buffeting with the windows down. This should be a relatively straightforward fix. We may also see a limited edition color or two and a one-year limited edition with cosmetic changes like the Launch Edition. But this is just speculation.

At launch, the Supra had two major components that were a generation behind the companion G29/Z4. The big one was the older version of the B58. This was rectified with the 2021 release of the A91.

The other big difference was iDrive 6.0 vs. 7.0. iDrive 7.0 is a major upgrade, with larger center and dash displays. I'd guess this is the next piece that will makes its way to the Supra. 2022 or 2023, likely. This will require fairly large changes to the dash and gauge area, so its just a matter of when Toyota wants to retool for that option (and BMW allowing 7.0 to transfer).

The 2.0 *may* get the MT currently available in the corresponding EU version of the G29. The 2.0 needs an MT more than the 3.0, frankly. The 2.0 ZF 8-speed is geared identically (and improperly) the same as the 3.0, another cost-saving measure. I think its highly unlikely a manual will appear for the 3.0 without it first being available on the BMW Z4.

Official word from the last press conference was that 2022 model year will get cosmetic changes
Covid probably screwed up production so this year probably is not the norm. Still, when did the 2021 get introduced this year? Which month? Just trying to get an idea of when a 2022 might show up?

It would be nice to see a new wheel design to differentiate the 2022. Wish list is maybe making some of the vents functional where possible. Maybe other optional cosmetic features like rear carbon spoiler, door garnish, mirror air deflector, etc? Different dash display and interior trim options? The Supra is low volume so I don't see it happening but optional colors for brakes, seat belts, stitching, would be nice.

Were 2021s actually on the ground at dealers by Feb/March of this year?
I'm not sure about the rest of the US, but the 21's started showing up in Texas' dealers inventories in late July, early August.

S55 engine is old they need to go with the S58 or go home in the $100k GRMN version.
Sorry I did mean to say the new S58 design, not the older S55. And yes the GRMN that would have it would undoubtedly be $100k or so before dealer markup.

A manual transmission would be fine but it’s gonna be a slow supra! Just put the tranny that’s in the new 2022 M4 and we will be fine.
It won't be quite as fast as the ZF8 8HP automatic 2.0L models but it still won't be a "slow" sportscar with a 6-speed manual transmission.

My 2JZ-GTE manual SC is "slow" by those standards... but it's not a slow car despite losing some advantage between shifts in straight line acceleration. Yet the outright 0-60 time is not why I own and drive it. It's WAY more fun and engaging to drive than any automatic even if shifts with a manual transmission are not lightning fast.

I do agree that the 2022+ Supra MKV 3.0 needs to get the 6-speed manual gearbox that the 2022 M4 is getting. The R&D is already done other than Toyota needing to get their car's electronics and ECU to work with it.

The GRMN is likely going to get a BMW DCT or a re-tuned ZF8 auto.

We need a better steering wheel and better looking stock rims. The a91 rims should be the base rims not these silver and black rims. Maybe more carbon on the inside.

I completely agree about the steering wheel. I want an airbag but I strongly dislike that design. It's awful! The wheels I have to agree with you about as well. It's like Toyota was deliberately trying to go with designs that don't look very good from the factory.

The A91 rims are okay but they can still do much better than that.

The cars are not totally perfect as they are but they could be very close to it with just a few standard feature additions and option packages made available on both the 2.0 and 3.0 trim levels : )

A manual transmission would be an obvious desirable option.
After 30 years driving manual, the ZF 8 auto is great and shifts are super fast.. Not sure I could go back to manual after the auto in the supra.

Perhaps with the Yaris GR a nice little turbo awd, but as I'm getting older, I feel I am past the era of awd hatch and stiff clutches which would be felt in my knee for days after.
