I have a 2021 Toyota Supra premium
I have AMS intake AMS charge pipe, FI Catless downpipe and full FI cat-back
My car equipped with JB4 with EWG connected.
Recently I'm doing a map5 log( target 22psi) with E30( I have fuel it kit by BMS) for Steve at burgerMotorsport to review.
He suggests I start at 3rd gear from 2500 RPM all the way to red line.
So I went out and did that with the traction control completely off.
After the pull My car immediately went into semi limp mode, with pop-up message said
You can continue to drive, immediate assistance not necessary contact dealer to assist followed by wastegate line disconnected and reduced power mode In my JB4 code reader
Anyway I got the log and send it to Steve at Burger Motorsport. He had review it and told me that I maxed out my Turbo. I guess that's why my car went into a limp mode.
My questions is does anybody have the same issues as I did.?
Can anyone help me to get my car back to normal mode without wastegate disconnection and power reduced mode?
I think my car now have issues with wastegate control or yet got stuck in safety mode because of over boost.
At the beginning I thought my car have some sort of Boost leak, or some pipe came off that was caused by over boost so I have checks all my connections from intake to charge pipe and nothing have come lose or broken.
Does anyone know how to clear this and get back to normal?
I have tried to clear the code with JB4, but it came right back after or short drive
Can anyone please help me.

I donā€™t think your limp mode is the same as this one, I realized that I got one of the pins mixed up when wiring my ewg cable in, once I fixed the wiring it still did not go away in which I disconnected my battery for about 10 min and I have not seen the code since then.

Yeah I don't think we have the same issue but at the end what I did was remove the wastegate and manually pressurize it to get it unstuck

Any damage to turbo impellers from over boosting it? One guy on here fried his turbo from over boost.

I have to get a new turbo.
Here's the things 21 is not tunable so I have to go with OEM, do you have any idea what other turbo can I use? or any member know what out there that I can used beside OEM?

Take that jb4 junk off and everything else off and take it back it to Toyota and see if they will warranty you a brand new turbo. And after you get all of it fixed, don't touch the car until the ecu is unlocked and get a proper ecu tune like with Ecutek......

Iā€™m wondering what actually caused it. Is 22 psi too high for this turbo or do you think the wastegate got stuck and thatā€™s what fried it?

I know plenty of others run map 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 fine without blowing up their turbo.

I had a buddy back in 2009 that messed up his brand new 335i severely. All kinds of malfunction lights came on. The car was fast tho. It was like 420 whp with just bolt ons..... Back then, it was called "Juice Box...." lol

Sorry, don't care if people hate me for it, but this is the exact behavior why dealers question people with legit warranty issues and it drives costs up. I don't condone this. If you f'ed up, own up to it or go cry at BMS's doorstep or whomever.

If you didn't know or couldn't find a tuneable one, I understand, but if you knew you were going to mod it right away shoulda woulda looked for tuneable one... or waited...or gone/stick with safer map..

Very true, I was trying to help the OP save some money. lol But I really doubt BMS will reimburse him for the turbo...... But its always worth a shot.....

Not to keep hopes up, but they might and yes youā€™re 100% right, it is worth a shot to ask. I had a Unitronic Tune on my 2017 Audi S3 that my independent shop said was the cause for the detonation, cylinder wash down, and scoring. They bought the blown up engine from me to help cover the cost of a used replacement engine.

I blew my turbo recently. Then we got into the engineā€”not pretty. Scoring, increased crankcase pressure had destroyed the rings. There was likely damage going on before your turbo went bad. Iā€™d have it checked out. If you have to replace the engine, go with a better turbo and, for the sake of Jesus and all his saints, stay away from Terry and JB4 garbage.
