ThatDudeinBlue has always represented the fanboy portion of the car scene, the people who think the A80 is a 500hp car, RX7s were the pinnacle of lightweight sports cars etc. He’s 30 and still has that teenager vibe, like he almost takes the fast and furious as gospel.
He actually drove my 500hp RSX and was just running his mouth and had no idea what he was saying…… ?‍♂?‍♂

If you hang with T.J. Hunt I’m going to assume you’re just fanboy.

As far as the Z goes it’ll do alright, I just view it as a cool 40k option. I hope it does great for the enthusiast’s sake.

Nissan is also saying they're not chasing numbers which leads me to believe the Z isn't going to be a Supra killer.
It was never going to be. It's literally inferior in every department. Less horsepower, less torque, slower transmission, smaller brakes, open diff, worse suspension, worse tires. Never gonna happen.

I just can't get excited at all about this car for some reason. It just isn't doing it for me. Something just looks odd about it too. I was really hoping for something a bit different.

All these frail, threatened egos.. :catfight:

This car will be born into an already maturing aftermarket; what it makes stock is going to be largely irrelevant to those of us that are willing and able to turn a wrench and drive.
Yup, there are already a few aftermarket tuners who have quite a few years with the VR30 platform (AMS, Z1, etc…) that are dying to get their hands on this car to drop in proven parts.

I'm sure it will be quite fun to drive... but that certainly doesn't mean it's the "death of the Supra" by any stretch. Hell, my B18-swapped '91 CRX was a blast - and it put ~190HP down (to the wrong wheels no less). I never felt bored with my 350Z... but I also never felt it was very fast either.

With a nominal amount of aftermarket love... almost any car can become a completely different animal than what rolled off the lot originally.

The most important thing is that 2-seat sports cars continue to be sold for the dwindling market that wants them. I personally look forward to being able to switch between the two... that is unless a Lotus Emira pops up locally (fat chance). That would be worth skipping the Z and trading the MKV in the deal. But if I was younger and on a tighter budget... the Z would be on my short list for sure.

Show me on the doll where the new Z hurt you.

LOL is this factually-inaccurate babble part of your superficial car guy daily affirmation routine? "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough..."

Being a magazine racer you should at least get the facts and figures correct. Less horsepower? 400 > 382 Open diff? Only on the Sport model. Slower transmission? What actual data can you share on the 9sp auto? Smaller brakes? Only the Sport; Performance has larger brakes front/rear, not to mention 2-piston rear. On what technical basis have you concluded it to have a "worse suspension"...

I think pricing will be key. The base Z with the open diff at ≤$40k will still be a better buy than the 2.0 Zupra in my book.

Now I can totally see Nissan pricing the performance model at $45k+. At that point how many people will just fork over a little more for a car with a better chassis and interior built? Unless you really want a manual and or scared to own a German car.

It’s pretty well documented that the Supra is underrated on power, and the stated HP numbers are in line with BMW standards, where they quote closer to WHP than crank. At the same time, it’s pretty well known that the VR30 (in Q50 Red Sport) is also arguably underrated, and puts down around 375whp on dyno tests stock. So I wouldn’t die on the 400 > 382 hill.

Am aware.. My point was purporting "Less horsepower" is pure conjecture until you put both cars on the same dyno on the same day, or better yet, the drag strip. Both of which I plan on doing; however, by the time I'm in a Z my MKV will likely be far from stock.

It's cool and totally par for the course. I figured you'd have nothing but deflection anyway; your type never does.

Walk on home, boy

My type? Now I'm sorry I edited my post lol.
Quoting Pantera? Damn, if you weren't such a loser, we'd get along.
Anyway, like I said, just wait. That 13 year old plastic shitbox will have "performance" figures soon enough.
