Catless downpipe with catted midpipe. Opinions.

Currently my car has a resonator delete with a muffler delete. I'm looking to get a catless downpipe but I don't want my garage to stink.

So I want to try go catless downpipe, but add catted midpipes to reduce the smell from the catless downpipe.

Is this a good idea? Or is it even possible on a Supra? And will it reduce the smell from the downpipe?

The only issue is I am having troubles with finding a catted downpipe.

In this case would the car still be fine with catless downpipe and catted midpipes?

I am guessing it would be louder than a catted downpipe, and should smell less?

If you move your cat that far down, you'll need some custom harness extensions for your primary & secondary O2 sensors. It'll most like read as if your catless anyway...I suppose it you're tuned it wouldn't matter, but it seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

The smell and sound difference from a high-flow catted DP and a catless might be negligible too.

It's your car, but I'd probably just order a catted DP and wait for it, opposed to cutting up the rest of the exhaust system.

I will be tuning the car as well. Currently my exhaust has already had the resonator and muffler delete. My idea is just to put a cat where the resonator once was.

you kinda just defeat the purpose of a catless downpipe, cause you just basically relocated the cat.

A simplier one is this: blow through a straw, then jam a brillo pad in there and blow through it again.

Is it possible to push the same amount of air through it. Absolutey. Is it harder to blow through it with the brillo pad in there? Absolutely.

you just jammed the brillo pad lower into the straw. Same thing as just installing a catted downpipe, just more complicated now. Your catless downpipe with a catted exhaust theory just basically contradicted itself.

Yes, I also feel that it defeats the purpose of going catless. So here's my thinking. Since the stock downpipe is 400 CEL, what if I put a 200 CEL in the midpipe instead? I mean isn't that the same as a 200 CEL high flow downpipe? I'm completely new to tuning my car so I may be wrong.

I'm just finding it impossible to find a catted downpipe right now. And i really want to tune my car as well ?

Extreme Power House, Meraki, etc.--none of the vendors here or anywhere else have any catted downpipes in stock?

Everyone here is saying just do the catted downpipe so you may just have to wait it out like 2.0 said. The catted midpipe solution you keep coming back to is bound to be more trouble than it's worth.

No worries, we all start somewhere; the catalytic converter is located in the downpipe for this car, so just go high flow catted downpipe. there's nothing wrong with a catted downpipe neither, it's MORE simplistic like this cause there's just literally only the downpipe and then a full exhaust all the way to the end of the exhaust tips rather than like 4 individual pipes. of course aftermarket will change that as they need to divide the pipes cause sending one huge ass box for a one piece exhaust is just blasphemy lmao. Just hit up one of the many vendors on this forum for more info regarding each product they carry.

I have decided to get a high flow downpipe for my Supra.

I think the replies all suggest that the midpipe cat is really going to be a hassle. And I do see good logic in that statement.
