Hey man, am I reading this correctly that your only mod is the JB4 and the E30 tune and you're running 12s? No catless DP yet? That's pretty freaking good for a lil four-banger.
Yes sir! The JB4 gives a nice bump over the stock tune with their OTS maps and then Jesse DaBears worked really hard with me on a custom 93 and E30 map (timing and boost are just PERFECT). I also swapped the stock wheels for some Gram Lights, Firehawk Indy 500 tires and recently added the Armaspeed carbon fiber CAI as well. When the warmer temps return, we'll definitely hit 0-60 in the upper 3s and do better in the 1/4 mile too! I have the Fi exhaust on order as well, which I'll definitely document on here and my Instagram. @supra_mkv_2.0

I think you helped me find my new wheels as well! I hope you don't mind me copying you. Did you get 18s and what offset for a direct swap with the tires? I'm guessing by the name they're lighter as well?

Go for it! I went up to 19s and a 40 profile (for a beefier look and because I'm not slamming this car). I'm done with the rubber bands after the Type-R, LOL. No scrubbing whatsoever, I love the fitment. Same 255 and 275 combo. I'm going to need 295s or 305s soon though. My E30 tune rips through 1st and 2nd with a vengeance now.

Specs:
19x9.5 5x112 25mm
19x10.5 5x112 35mm

E30 is fine on the stock fuel system. I'm running about E40 (with meth) trims are fine.
Spot on, Jesse helped me get my timing absolutely perfect. Car is super happy now (powerband is fantastic with some impressive top end now) and no doubt properly quick at this point (very close to stock 3.0 performance. but much lighter and agile through the twisties). It's perfect for me!

Wanted to post some updates to our build! I've got a few sponsors now (Armaspeed, Blacklist Motorsports, Wickedly Boosted and TheRevRepublic) and quite a few more in negotiation ;b

Back to the show (for those that watch Donut Media, LOL)

the b48 in other platforms responds well to a high flow exhaust, as in a cat-less or high flow downpipe, combine that and have Jesse make the necessary adjustments for a cat-less downpipe and you may see a pretty impressive, given that, and the fact that doing an dp upgrade is free if you consider selling the oem (to me ofc, shameless plug) it is a worthy upgrade

For now, I'm sticking with the oem dp and using the JB4 piggyback bc it leaves no trace, vs a flash. After my powertrain warranty is up, I'll likely go hfdp, forged pistons, big turbo, upgraded fp and injectors, alongside a Pro flash tune. (Note: For those just doing the same as me, and only getting the Fi cbe, you'll need to flange the uppipe. Necessary due to our USDM dp design.)

The power level I'm at now, is honestly near perfect. At around 3100 lbs (with my Gram Lights), it pulls hard, has terrific top end and is beautiful balanced through the twisties.

This seems like a bizarre path to me, but I don't know that much about the 2.0.

You're going to go big turbo? Why on earth would you not go stock frame/hybrid? It seems like it would take -so much nitrous- to get a big turbo to spool on the B48 platform.. and you're going to upgrade the injectors? On the direct injection system? You've definitely go me curious. I know there isn't a port plate for the B48, are you considering a HPFP vs LPFP? Seems like you'd have to in this case. Why just the pistons, aren't the rods going to be the limiting factor in the B48? If you have the motor open, I'd think you'd want to build it. The hard part of a built motor is opening it up.

I'm not knocking the future build plans, it just generally seems odd to me. Do you already have a tuner/shop in mind that's going to tune this thing?

You're not me, and I'm not you--so I'm just throwing this out there, but if I were to build a 2.0, I'd almost certainly just go stock frame/hybrid turbo + direct port meth and shoot for something like 21bs of boost, no where near the limits of the pistons..

Again, I'm not super familiar with the B48 so maybe this is a tried and true path?

Love all the information zrk! Stock frame hybrid approach probably would be the easiest path here huh ? You have many solid points here and this project would be way down the road, so I haven't even begun diving down that rabbit hole of research yet ? My tuner would definitely be Jesse DaBears and my performance shop is Pompeii Motorsports.

I agree, your plan sounds excellent and the project specifics could absolutely drastically change by the time this part of the build became a reality. Always love the wealth of knowledge from everyone here on the forum ??

My Fi Exhaust finally came in and is on the car(CBE). Absolutely LOVE it! (Considering the DP at a later point). Videos aren't coming up at the moment, I'll have a few for sound clips posted shortly!

Huge shoutout to Blacklist Motorsports and Fi Exhaust for making this possible!
