And now it comes to light that another vendor offering post june ecu unlocks has bit off more than they could chew. Its clear they were uneducated on the subject before making their initial announcement offering this service.
After realizing this, they made this post which inaccurately describes how smooth this process can really go. It was removed as it wasn't exactly so transparent. There is no secret to what Femto charges. If you contact them, they will tell you. Its all about the logistics, paperwork and organization when trying to offer this type of service. I believe the amount of time and resources involved in each one of these is truly underestimated.
When working with Visconti Tuning, you dont have to worry about sending off your DME without insurance or how it gets replaced if it were to ever get lost. Why? Because we stand behind the services we offer and will be held liable if such an event were to occur, domestically or internationally. Thankfully, after doing ~100 units, we've yet to ever have an issue.
This isn't the first time we've heard such story. We're contacted almost daily about how someone, their friend, or their shop tried to do this themselves and it took over a month, in one instance, two months. Sometimes, it's just best to leave it to the experts.
Below is the real breakdown and costs involved:
B58 Unlock - No Remote Start -700 Euro or $833
Overnight Shipping Label Provided by Visconti to Visconti - $100
Shipping to Russia - $350
Shipping back to Visconti from Russia - $350
Overnight Shipping back to Customer - $100
Total Investment: $1733
This excludes any random fees charged by DHL a month later.
We offer this service to the public for $1,895. Making the claim of charging "5xs" the cost might be a bit of a stretch.
- This is not something to offer to consumers to simply make a quick buck. If you're wanting to accept the challenge of tackling it yourself to save $162, give it a shot.
