Did the Sport Z just kill off the Supra 2.0?

Just curious....what's the sales split between the 2.0 and the 3.0? I'm guessing that the 2.0 is a pretty low percentage.
From what I understand Toyota has only released a production rate. It was 20% for the 2021 model year and 15% for 2022.

I'd argue that the 2.0 is the better car for autocross.
IDK, I was slower than both a SM 91 civic and tesla model 3P with coilovers and 200tw tires last weekend.

Next time I should bring my i3. It won't be as fast as the tesla but we can have two ev class cars and at least it's a real bmw šŸ˜”

I heard 85/15.

Well, the Mach-E didnā€™t kill the Model Y. The C8 didnā€™t kill all mid-engine Ferraris. The Bronco didnā€™t put Jeep out of business.

Different cars can exist, thrive, die for many reasons. I donā€™t see these two cars as direct competitors.

2.0 Supra vs Z:
<3200 pounds vs ~3600 pounds
turbo 4 vs twin turbo V6
3 year old chassis vs Paleolithic chassis
BMW level interior vs Nissan Versa level interior

I think both cars can exist - although in Canada the 2.0 is already no longer listed on Toyotaā€™s website.

I think the thing that killed the 2.0 (if it does go away in other markets) is the fact that the 3.0 is sold in the same dealerships. If Iā€™m selling Supras, which ones would I want to sell?
the other HUGE thing is LSD vs no LSD especially with that much power.

Only reason the 2.0 existed was to provide tuners a motor so the car could be driven to a shop to have it ripped out and replaced with a 90's Japanese motor.

Right, but it's still $3k less which is more than enough for an aftermarket LSD.
I know even Nissan is basically saying "we know you're gonna mod it," but making big drivetrain mods to a brand new, 40k+ car isn't something I personally want to do, especially if I have a loan out on it. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the price of LSDs for the new Z go up because the ones for the 370 weren't designed for it, or just greed.

But y'all do whatever you're gonna do. That kind of modding comes with risks, and there's always a chance it just turns into a money pit. I learned my lesson about having my only car be the one I'm modding years ago, and then there's the fact that most people don't keep their newly bought sports car for the rest of the car's life, and dealing with trying to resell a modded car.

Yeah but Tada-san said the same thing for the 2.0, so...

Like I said in another thread, depends on what you want.

If you want the maximum amount of horsepower per dollar, base Z.
BUT, you get nothing besides that. If you want some luxury and comforts, and sporty equipment, the 2.0 Supra gets an LSD, better interior, etc.

I'd go 2.0 without a doubt.
On looks alone - 2.0 Supra. The Z is a tin can. The limiter on top speed alone is a joke.

The 2.0 Supra in the US has an open diff, no LSD.

I'm not sure why people get so pressed about the Z's existence. It looks like a fine car that has a number of compromises depending on what trim you get, just like the Supra is. Nissan just chose different things to compromise on.

Personally I feel a base model manual Z offers better sports car value than the 2.0 Supra, but if I'm buying a car so I can modify it to make it better, I'd start with a GR86 which is a better driver's car than both the Z and the Supra. But some people want horsepower, so they'll get the Z, and some people want a nice interior and better NVH, so they'll get the Supra. Sounds like we have plenty of good options in the market these days.

Modding kind of defeats the purpose of the comparison. I'm just considering the cars bone-stock.

I cant speak for everyone, but for myself and what seems like a lot of others, it was the whole last year about how our "shitty bmw" is going to be destroyed by the "Supra Killer" named Z. Thats all its been, Z is going to blow the Supra out the water, Z is going to be way cheaper and better, Z this and Z that... I personally love that they have it. i like the car except the grill which im sure ill get over. but its the constant the Z is the Supra Killer crap for over a year that i think brought this to a boil. Now all a sudden its, well the Z was never a straight line car, and if IF the Supra beats it on the track itll be more tires excuses, more its cheaper at a base price, its a GT car was never designed to go against the Supra, thats the GTR's job crap....
