i use shell most of the time cause i have like 3 within a couple of blocks of me
I've always used Chevron for my Yaris, but I'm thinking about switching to Shell for my Supra.
I read BMW has recommended Shell V-Power® NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline for all BMW M models since 2015....

I think generally speaking, manufacturers don’t recommend specific brands, rather they specify types or parameters. In any case, here’s what the manual says:

5FAC0B9F-A5E4-400F-836B-A8E383A8963B.webp

The previous page starts with gasoline being sulfur-free or very low in sulfur.

I just stick with whatever Top Tier brand that I can find. Supposedly, the additive packages are above and beyond the normal regulations for gasoline refinery/distributors.

I’m sure it’s placebo effect, but I’m 66.6% convinced my car makes more pops and bangs on Shell vs Chevron or Fred Meyer premium. ?
Now you know which stations to avoid.

But it is in your head.

Shell is rated at most 91 octane here, so I use Chevron which sells a 94 octane. Our manual recommends 93 octane.

I'd read that some enthusiasts in the area (Evo owners, I think?) had more success with Shell, perhaps due to its ethanol content, so I tried interpreting timing logs for one tank's worth of each, but the data was too noisy to make sense of.
