Just like DCT gearboxes, the 8P and 8HP have different shift times between variants. Right now, the F90 M5 has what I refer to as a Gen 2.5 (Gen 2 HIS but with the new Central Intelligence Unit Processing Module), and is the only current 8HP variant that’s close to what will be in the Supra/Z4. It can pull off shifts in 60ms using launch control (faster than M-DCT does a trans-to-trans change), and 80ms in its most aggressive normal setting. The 8P-R (Motorsport variant without torque converter) bangs out shifts in an undetectable 40ms, making it the 2nd fastest shifting gearbox on the planet. Any comparison to earlier versions of the 8HP should be discounted before giving the latest versions a try. It's gonna be quick as hell overall, and that ZF8 down shifts and up shifts nearly as fast as a run of the mill DCT, so I'm stoked.
Really? There haven’t been official news nor confirmation from Tada nor Toyota that it’s coming with a hybrid. Hybrid for what? You drive a Supra for performance; not efficiency. But if the hybrid will help bring out more power, or some sort of overboost, then that’s ok.Hybrid guaranteed.
Was informed it will be highest trim of the 4 banger by a toyota dealership owner. Even hearing this was questionable because I assumed GRMN trim was going to be hybrid
I'm not well versed on the different ZF transmissions, so it's interesting to hear the differences you have laid out here and previously. I'll make it a point to try and get more info on the specific version being used.Just like DCT gearboxes, the 8P and 8HP have different shift times between variants. 47K is Charger tier
Didn’t A70 confirm it wouldn’t be 400hp? Or was that 450hp. I forget
