More manufacturers should do what Ford did with the F-150 Lightning electric truck.
Ford said in a letter to dealers warning that any dealers caught increasing prices might not get all the Lightnings they and their customers had ordered.

Damn the car sales folks really outed themselves in this thread so far. Quick question: Does any car enthusiast or random buyer actually like that they have to deal with a salesperson at a dealership? The single worst part of buying a new car. Say what you will about Tesla, but at least their sales methods are decent.

@dethred , hide behind your keyboard, it’s ok, the world is a safe place for you. There are people in various different fields of professions and we all deal with way different things. I’m sure you volunteer at a homeless shelter and dedicate your life to selflessly helping people, but for the vast majority of us, we deal with life as it happens. I’m so sorry you’ve had nightmare after nightmare experiences at car dealerships your entire life, but as it would seem as bad as it has been for you, you’ve still purchased the cars. I’m willing to bet after your car purchase, you’ve every time left scathing reviews of your criminal felon salesman that treated you like absolutely scum of the earth and you were basically forced to buy your car. For that , I’m sorry, there are a very few of us that are good, maybe 1-3 out of 1,689,741,765 of us in America…

Haha, you got me again! You’re a good troll, someone will get a great breakfast sandwich at Burger King tomorrow morning from you…
Still crickets. At least at Burger King I have some sort of value. Not just sitting at the drive thru window standing between the cashier and the customer asking for my cut just because. "Sign out front says $3 whopper? No sir, today it's $10, and we'll throw in under-patty sealant for $1200 to keep the rust away".

I think everyone can agree there are good and bad peeps in any business. It’s the American car sales business model that really sucks… If there was a set price, you could focus on dealer service, car brand, model, so many other positive things during the purchase process. Gotta admit, not a fan of electric cars but can see what’s adding to Tesla’s popularity.

You all do realize Tesla randomly increases prices and doesn’t always provide access to options that were purchased, right?
I’ve not had a bad experience yet with car salesmen or dealerships. I’ve negotiated what I was comfortable paying and it hasn’t been very difficult. Sometimes they try to sell the warranties and add ons but I just politely say no thanks. End of story. The most irritating thing about our last sales man (wife’s 22 Venza) was he tried too hard to show us all the features and didn’t always know how they worked. I’d prefer to explore myself and consult the manual instead.
It’s a free country. If you don’t like the price, go somewhere else or just don’t buy. That’s how capitalism and supply and demand is supposed to work. I didn’t hear any bitching about the huge incentives that were needed to move vehicles just a few short years ago…

This is the time to identify the good dealers and remember how they treated people in the heat of the market we’re in right now. When times are tough for dealers again, my business is going to the good ones.
@GoldenEye is with a good dealer near me. That’s who has my deposit right now. And it’s even got me thinking maybe I need to trade in the F150 for a Tundra.
Kudos to those good dealers! Time is also money after all. I’d prefer to focus on the car and not negotiating a fair price. Fixed pricing would be great imo. Just my opinion ofc

Don’t get me wrong, I love haggling and am pretty much the guy sales managers hate. It pains me to no end that I can’t do that right now on a Supra, but it’s reality. I don’t like the idea of direct manufacturing sales purely because I’m going to miss negotiating.

Agree. It was fun when there was more flexibility. I’ve been buying my cars online for a while now. And admittedly that makes it wayyyyy better. “What’s you’re out the door price, no add on’s?” and move on. Saves a lot of time too!

You got it right, I work as an assistant manager at Burger King. Hiding from what exactly? Come to my store and we'll have a friendly chat over some BK tacos.
