I've said likely 350 with upwards of 380 being possible. I wish it was 400 or 450... that's in regards to the street car though.

The GTE racecar pictured would have to do 500+ to be competitive.

Didn't GT SPORT have it at 591+?

Is an active exhaust a possibility? I canā€™t recall if anything was mentioned or confirmed with what we saw at Goodwood

Being realistic, I believe the A90 Supra will not exceed the power output of the BMW Z4. If you want more power, the aftermarket is there, or of it will be offered with a bigger engine or hybrid, itā€™s possible. The Z4 is possible to have 380hp++ and itā€™s ok since itā€™s a Bimmer. Buyers are ready for the price tag, no matter how steep. Usually, luxury buyers spend as much as they can. Price is not a concern. Toyota buyers, on the other hand, theyā€™re more on the budget side. Wanting more out from the Supra would just mean higher price tag. I know Toyota is aware of this, and theyā€™re more than good enough to price it affordably. After all, I believe the Supra will excel in the handling department, just like the 86, with enough power to grunt.

I believe it does have an active exhaust.
Oh shit! So an active exhaust with the switch in the cabin and all? Iā€™m not too familiar with these systems, except for seeing some cut-outs in vettes and stuff.

Active exhaust system sound like the ones in the Ford Mustang EcoBoost variant where artificial sound comes into the cabin via piping/hose and/or speakers. Sometimes, turbocharged enginesā€™ sound is muffled.

Here are some of the actual cases:

Ford - installed a system called Active Noise Control in the Mustang EcoBoost variant, which cancels out coarse engine notes and layers artificial sounds over the four-cylinderā€™s natural voice. By pulling fuse 27 on an Ecoboost Mustang, the motor and stereo will fall silent. By just pulling the fuse, the car will sound differently. Ford wants the EcoBoost Mustang to mimic the sound of the GT variant. The result, however, has been disdain feom muscle car fans.

BMW - found the twin-turbo V8 introduced on the F10 M5 generation to be too quiet, so the brand decided to play synthetic engine sounds through the vehicleā€™s speakers.

Volkswagen - the 6th-generation GTI became infamous for its ā€˜Soundaktorā€™ system as well, which uses a firewall-mounted speaker to generate additional sonic stimulation.

Should these solutions excite us or disappoint us enthusiasts?

I just hope the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre turbocharged engines that will be equipped in the Supra/Z4 will have natural(not artificial) sounds that will excite us. Iā€™m more confident that the 3.0-litre variant will deliver in the sound department. Just the 2.0-litre, that it might use artificial sounding.

Okay if this is whatā€™s in the Supra, then thatā€™s not so exciting. Only experience Iā€™ve had with this is with the I8, and while it sounds fucking cool, itā€™s still, like, super fake... so ultimately idk how I feel about it.
