I dont understand the hype of the Toyotabaru twins
I have driven multiple versions, stock and modified
1 gen, facelift, GR86 now

Rather have an FK8 CTR or an actual good low powered sports car in the Miata RF
Cars are so subjective. I think the 86 is rubbish. I drove one a few years ago and apart from noticing how cheap the interior was, it put me to sleep. Granted it was an auto.. but still. More controversially, I’ve driven a Miata a number of times (really wanting to like it) but I hated it. I think it’s way underpowered and very overrated. Sure, it feels fast going slow but beyond that, like the 86, it’s just a cheap feeling car.

I currently drive an FN2 Type R (don’t think these got stateside) and even at 12 years old, it feels much better (and for my money) is way more fun than the 86 or the Miata!

Is anyone really surprised that they're falling back on the "driver feel" argument? We knew this was coming. Car reviewers are all alike. Always one step away from buying a Morgan or Lotus 7 and borderline insane.
Because that's all they got. The numbers prove they're full of shit, so they claim some subjective nonsense which their car's fanbase hopelessly clings to.

"Your car might beat mine in every segment, power, weight, braking, lap times, quality, interior, etc,

But mine "feels" better."

Uh huh

They're fun in the way that you can wring their necks and stay relatively legal. It takes 37 years to get to 60, so you can beat the hell out of them without fear of losing your license. They're very safe in the way you have to do something REALLY stupid in order to upset the car, because they're so low in power and torque. As soon as you stop doing that, they're boring.
You can get the most out of those cars doing autocross.
They're not great on track, because it takes FOREVER to get to the next corner, and when you arrive, your speed is so low it takes nothing to get through.

I liked my FRS, but I never loved it. 100000% id rather be in my Supra at a track than the FRS. In a little better weather condition and with just a catback I was just over .5 second of Randy Pobst FRS record at Streets of Willow. So I could wheel it just fine. But I for sure enjoy the Supra more. Even after all the suspension up grades, the Supercharger making over 450whp it was fun, but I never really cared that much for the car. I thought for the price it wasn’t worth it. I think the Subaru build quality is garbage compared to Toyota and I’m not even going to put it up next to BMW. So even if it was for a track weapon, I’d pick the Supra 10 out of 10 times. To me the FRS wasn’t worth the 27k I paid for it, my Focus ST3 at the same cost shit on it in everything but missing RWD.

For some of us, driver feel is hugely important. It's the first thing I look for. I just sold a car I only had for 3mos because, though it was a beast at the track, it didn't feel right for me.
If I look back on the cars I've owned, in the past and present, it's obvious power isn't my thing. Like... Really. ?
My cars are "underpowered" and I enjoy driving them every time.
Except a Miata. That's where I draw the line.

At the very least, SG knows how to get people talking, as this thread shows. His videos aren't monetized for nothing.

The Supra lacks nothing in driver feel. Anyone that says different is clueless.
You want lack of driver feel? Drive a Dodge Challenger, then come talk lol.

Nothing. The problem is that many of the cars are rolling off of the assembly line with the alignment far out of spec. So just bringing the alignment into spec can make a world of difference.

My car in particular had a bad shimmy in the rear when hitting bumps, especially while cornering. Whenever I’d hit a small bump it felt like the rear would shift 6” laterally, it made the car feel very uncertain. I swapped springs and while many other aspects of the handling improved, that shimmy in particular stayed exactly the same. Then I got an alignment to factory specs and it disappeared almost entirely.
I pay for a new alignment on each new car before I drive it off the property of the dealer. Every time I have been correct. It was not set very well. The alignments set at the factor are done to reach an acceptable point to get it out of the factory.
I asked for this on my new M235i and my mechanic was given 'pushback' by a more senior tech here in Germany at my dealer at the time. It was redone and the car was not well aligned at the rear. My mech then told the other gent - see, the customer was correct, he is paying so why do you trust all from the factory so easily lol :)

He needed to specify what made the Z so good as the 'drivers car' or not be paid. IF you want feel and feedback I have a nice road bicycle that offers even more than the Morgan or Lotus lol :)

I traded in a boosted 86 with 300whp for my Supra and I must admit that I loved it and loved it even more after coilovers, brakes, wheels and tires and the turbo upgrade. With the Supra just tweaking the suspension with springs, roll bars and alignment made it perfect for me and I don't ever feel like I've made the wrong decision. The only real upside of the 86 was the weight but it's more front heavy in balance(55/45) than the Supra thanks to it having a cab forward sports car setup which I didn't like. The Supra to me feels like a bigger Mx5 RF with gobs of power, more refinement and a better suspension.

Like many of us, I too, came from a modded 86 (Jackson Racing SC) that was a lot of fun, but no where near the overall class of the Supra. Out of the box, the Supra is an amazing platform. And - for the record - I whipped my 86 at HPDE, AX, and street at many levels of mod from stock to header + E85 to SC. I loved the MT and (comparatively)lightweight nature , but it isn’t god’s gift to sports cars. Just a very fun sporting car for the $.

Your opinion, of course. ??
Of course. That's why we have things like lap times, dyno's, brake tests, 1/4mile, 0-60, etc to take personal opinion out of it. And that's exactly the whole point. The Supra IS the better car, but instead of acknowledging that simple fact, we get stupid shit with a trunk (because that's why we buy sports cars, to move trunks) and desperate opinionated crap to justify bias.
