Generally, the electronic diverter valves can be unplugged (on the electrical connector) for maximum tsutsutusutsutustusutu

A friend has an S3, we do this to him frequently as he hates the sound hahahhaa

I have the same platform. People insist on swapping the DV to a BOV lol. I get all the turbo noise I want through an open intake

I believe the Supra will be tuned to be noiser than the Z4 since the forner is said to be sportier while the latter is to be more luxurious.

I havent’t been this excited about a new hyped up sports car from a Japanese automaker for a while now. The last time I got so excited was in late 2011 when Toyota and Subaru launched the 86 and BRZ. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get either. I was able to drive both, and all I can say is they’re both fun to drive. They are true driver’s car. Now, I’m very optimistic and looking forward to the unveiling of the A90 Supra. I hope it will live up to expectations. So far I believe everything is right on track, just that enthusiasts are clamoring for a manual transmission variant.

Hmm What AM I driving?
Unfortunately, there hasn't been a Sports car that anyone could get excited about from a Japanese maker.

I mean the Civic R was the closest but that's more of just a Honda thing. The A90 is like everyone is Excited.

So it's on a pedestal I'm afraid and there's just too much expectation. It's going to make some people happy and others very disappointed.
It is what it is....

People get excited because the Supra will finally make a return after a very long hiatus. It will stay true to its heritage with 3.0-litre I6 turbocharged engine. People seem to find a way to like it even if it will only be offered in AT. But rumors say a MT is already in the cards, which should only make enthusiasts more excited. It will most likely be the last pure gas powered sports car from Toyota. So it’s a big deal for die-hard gasoline powered car fans. Toyota would have to start all over again and find a target market when they launch a hybrid/electric sports car soon. The hybrid/electric sports car category hasn’t been established just yet. It’s just Tesla that is more aggressive.

Here’s my take why I think the Supra will be made more affordable than the BMW Z4:
-it will not have carbon fiber construction/parts, which the Z4 will have
-less technology and equipments than the Z4
-less luxury than the Z4, as it is positioned to be a sportier version
-shared parts could mean like wholesale, cheaper to manufacture as to reduce costs
-it will use BMW’s less powerful engine as compared to what the Z4 will receive
so a Supra that is inferior to a BMW Z4.... dont think people should be happy with that.

Toyota won't be and its beyond Tada-san, this is Toyoda-san level call... why would you want your halo car to be lesser than a European cookie cutter Convertible, although European convertibles these days are great.

And its not just about those components and features that dictate the pricing point, its about slotting it in a market that makes sense and maximises its audience.

To have less doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not as good or worse. Toyota engineered their own car, will use their own components as well. Just shared chassis, engines, electronics, electricals, mechanicals, and interior bits with BMW. It may sound like they got everything from BMW but I’m sure Toyota has modified it to their own liking, applying Japanese philosophy into the car. Tada will make sure that it’s not about horsepower, nor carbon fiber, nor luxury stuff. It’s all about a great package as a whole, being affordable, yet fun to drive.....that will put a smile in your face each and every time you drive the Supra.:)

LOL!

Read your own post, it’s pretty funny. I thought you were being sarcastic for a sec and then noticed you were serious.

No one ever said this won’t be a fun car that will put a smile on your face (I picture pink sky, a rainbow and a unicorn every time you think of the new Supra). People have an issue with the whole Supra is now a modified BMW thing. To some it’s a deal breaker or a disappointment, just accept that and let people be.

SERIOUSLYo_O LOL:spaz:

Well, of course I want it to be as good as possible, also being realistic, and wanting it to be as affordable as possible.

The Supra will be a BMW thing whether we like it or not. If we don’t like it, then we just have to enjoy the MkIV Supra and stick to it. We have no choice. In fact, we have to thank BMW for making this project possible. Without BMW, I doubt Toyota would make a 2JZ successor on their own. They would have to invest on a new factory just for the Supra, which will not make them a lot of money. I believe they’re just making a smart move by partnering with those manufacturers where they can benefit from. Cost cutting, more possibilities, and one of the reasons why they could get more out of less; we get what we want, and at the same time being affordable enough.

I wonder what’s with the Supra? Why do a lot of people love it? Not only Japanese ; but also American , Australia , Canadian , European , and more. The Supra is Asian. Me, I just find it as an emotional machine that excites. Something that excites me like nothing else.

:offtopic:
This is how I find car manufacturers from different countries, and how they design their cars:
America - big, powerful, muscular
Japan - economy friendly, cute, sporty, well-balanced, reliable
Germany - advancement in technologies, perfectionist in engineering, luxurious
Italy - exotic, extraordinary
UK - sporty, agile, unique
