Thats now an old car. Good luck taking the E90 near a new M2 lol. Time to adapt and allow tech to make things better.

I will be working my order here in Germany: Red w Auto/Tan leather/Sunroof/silver wheels(fk black) sport seats and a heated steering wheel. Does not need further options. Should be a fun ride. Happy to see the new M2!!
I can take a track prepped used e90 and run circles around the new m2 for about 1/2 the price.

Too heavy!

Long time BMW fan 30year owner. Disappointed. there has to be a way it could have come in around 32-3300. They want these cars filled with so much luxury and gee wizz bells and whistles that just pile on weight. I don't need or want 30-way heated and cooled seats that weigh 75lbs (hyperbole)

but as an idiot track rat i am 100% not the demographic.

99% of the "track" people just want a fancy/luxurious/fast car that does well twice a year when they sign up for some HPDE and then drive the car 60% of its ability- sigh

Damn you beat me to it! And you talk way better than me anyways. Well said! I like what they are trying to do though. Even the Supra weight has me on edge. I’m so MX5 spoiled and gutted my S2K. I’m promising myself I won’t gut this Supra…. But you never know 😭
Weight, weight, weight (loss) ❤

the increased tq/hp makes up for the weight
I don't think anything can 'make up' for that much heft. Good Lord she's a thick bitch.

Agreed! Enough with the excessive sound-deadening, cast-iron vibration dampers, and motorized everything.

Definitely agree on darker color. The red looks infinitely better than whatever color the leak is.

I'll consider it in a couple years when I want to upgrade from the 2.0. Don't think you can make a wrong choice between M2 or 3.0 MT

I'm very intrigued to see how this squares up against the CT4-V Blackwing. They'll be very similarly priced and spec'd

Good for you if you track. I have an Emira coming next. I no longer track. No need. So you make fun of those who are not so 'serious' as you. What ever. If you are not getting paid to track are you so much 'better' lol. You dont like the car. No loss.

thought you had a M2 coming?
I looked at Emiras. Dealership too far away for any kind of support if needed. AND the waiting list was 2 years- good luck if you haven't been on the list for a while. VERY cool looking cars.
Just seems they put all the emphasis on styling and interior comfort. same old Toyota v6 and power levels. the Mercedes 4 has some potential.

Not making fun of anyone who tracks casually and infrequently. Just stated a fact. 90% of track participants use 60% of their cars potential on track.

I instruct too. I see it every weekend and love getting people more interested in the sport.

I am special- but not in any way superior- actually, full blooded track rats are just rare and especially nutty that is all. an Illness really- you should have sympathy for me not jealousy.

Not a Corvette.
Weighs too much!
200 lbs over e90 m3
E90 M3 with DCT weighs 3,7XXlbs
F80 M3 with DCT weighs 3,6XXlbs
G80 M3 with ZF8 weighs 3,9XXlbs

F87 M2 with DCT weighs 3,5XXlbs
G87 M2 with ZF8 weighs 3,8XXlbs

G22 M240i with DCT and xDrive weighs 3,8XXlbs

G20 M340i with ZF8 weighs 3,8XXlbs

G26 M440i with ZF8 weighs 3,8XXlbs

Better question here is why does the new G87 M2 weigh basically the same as the xDrive M240i, the RWD G20 M340i, the M440i and almost the same as the G80 M3 boat anchor?

Is BMW just making all their cars weigh the same now? lol

I wonder if the brakes from the upcoming M2 will fit the Supra hmmm. It would be pretty cool if the knuckle is the same.

the M performance parts LOOK cool. From rendering above not sure how functional. i mean that wing "seems" to be aggressive in looks- no adjustment? anything at that price range should be swan neck anyway

Love the M5s- always have. They post amazing times on BIG tracks/big power tracks. like VIR
most of the time i am on smaller more technical tracks where the weight becomes an issue and big hp doesn't count as much.
Friend has a brand new 50 anniversary one but he won't track it.

The listed and published weights 100% have some discrepancy. who knows....

But 100% the "small" race trackish M2 model should NOT have gone from
35xx to 38xx!!!

Also and BUT: I do not think there should a 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 series etc
Surely, they could consolidate
at least to me- the 3 and 4 should be switched (4=4doors?)
