Anyone know if Toyota/dealership provides some type of notification the warranty (or a portion of), is void other than a on the spot denial of claim? I only ask because I bought a 2020 with a flash tune (which I was unaware of even though I specifically asked), only to find out when I took it in for the brake recall. The ecu is now reset to factory and locked. This is not a question I want to ask Toyota….

I have never seen a manufacturer care enough to send a letter. It's always been up to the individual dealership. They will decide to deny your claim or not.

Yes, I received a letter soon after receipt of my 2023 Toyota Supra. Here's a quick short with the letter included...https://youtube.com/shorts/5xjnt3cPDmc

The dealership wants to take care of your concerns or recalls as Toyota pays them for the work. The problem lies in what they must disclose to Toyota which in your case is a simple recall and not a major problem of the engine / powertrain. Usually a manufacturer will only request ECU history if an existing problem could be caused with a customer tampering with their ECU. Otherwise there would be no reason for the dealer to even disclose your ECU situation for a brake recall as their are taking Toyota service money from their own pocket as well.

Always ask it’s best to ask for others experiences just in case everything isn’t as straight forward as you expect.

Before posting an inquiry it’s advised to do a deep dive on any relevant statutes and have a working familiarity of the Code of Federal Regulations in it’s entirety. A forum is just not the place to be asking questions. ?
