I personally don't see the next Supra being EV, again it's just my opinion (not insider news)

Given the Supra is a low volume halo car for Toyota, they would want to retain the ICE straight 6 heritage for as long as possible. Given their extensive investments in hybrids and hydrogen ICE, experimenting their race cars with biofuel and synthetic fuel, EV (given the huge increase in weight and the lengthy charging time) seems to be the least likely solution for their halo car Supra.

Akio Toyoda is keen to show the world there are other better solutions for a sports car (the sounds, lower weight, ease of refuelling...etc) while being carbon neutral. I am quite sure the next Supra won't be a full EV.
New CEO is full on EV though. His vision seems a bit different than Akio Toyoda.

I hope Japan gets there 100 GRMN cars. keep the GRMN name over there if they don't want to share. Maybe Toyota can give us 1/500 A91S with S58 trim a manual Mcar big brakes produce it for 2024-2025 give us updated z4 interior dash which looks ok but it's what they upgraded to. . Mcar seats. A90 can have the targa top. Check out the car and driver 2023 z4 photos the back of the front window looks like it’s ready for a targa top the photos really show how bad ass it would look This is a fun topic. the more options we can get the better for everyone.

It would be nice to see some mildly updated headlights and taillights for the 24' or 25' MY. I love the overall shape of both the headlights and the taillights, but I think the internal elements could be done a little better, especially on the headlights to get rid of those "ice cubes".

Beyond that, the only other thing I'd love to see is a newer version of iDrive that supports Android Auto.

Just want the b58 to get a nice final upgrade with dual (port) injection added. A few more spicy interior and exterior options would also be welcome.

If GRMN is truely limited to Japan, then I just ask that some of the parts/aero be available for sale through Toyota or trickle down into other trims.

Did anyone see that BMW won't be doing a Z4M?
My Toyota dealer was adamant that there will not be a Targa due to non-compete agreements. As much as we hope its not true, I don't see any major changes happening in a car that is due for obsolescence in two years. Just doesn't make fiscal sense as these cars are already selling like hotcakes. New colours. Maybe a spoiler. Maybe an uprated B58 in a Japan only GRMN. That's about it. And maybe a Hairpin++ mode for going downhill? 😅

Lots will depend on the new CEO, Sato-san on what happens to the GR line. He was in charge of the GR division at the time of his appointment as CEO. If I had to guess, Toyota's priority will be on expanding the "GR" line to the rest of the product family- GR Sport, GR Performance, etc. more milquetoast "GR" ... like M, M-performance, etc. I don't think the Supra will get much more than a few minor refreshes in MY24/MY25, at which point Magna Steyr will move on to other customer contracts.

As long as the main GR vehicle line still stands for purpose built in-house or co-developed performance vehicles (GR Sport is different of course) then the division will still do well.

Toyota was already going to market more "GR Sport" badged vehicles which will not be full-bore GR cars like the 86, Supra and GR Corolla.

The news about BMW bean counters vetoing a Z4 M that the BMW engineers do want is interesting indeed. That power hierarchy used to be the opposite at BMW where engineers had far more pull in product decisions.

This is why that GR badge is coming off my car as soon as it hits my garage. The watering down of the //M badge is just a way to spread the halo to lower priced cars to try and make everyone feel like the drive an //M car.

GR will be the same. Our problem is that making every Toyota owner feel better about their purchase, ultimately makes owners of more exclusive cars feel worse. Of course, as we are a fiscal minority, its of little import to Toyota - as it was to BMW.

As a side note, I sat in a GR Yaris with my son the other day and we counted no less than 8 GR logos throughout the cabin.. but they couldn't manage to make a passenger seat that is usable by anyone who isn't a midget. What a joke of a car.

He is put up there to drive the EV projects

All big decisions will have to be approved by the board. With Akio now atvthe helm of Chairman ofvthe biard and still a substantial shareholder, he has the pull to retain ICE on the next Supra

While I would love that, everything I've read to date suggets A100 will be EV. However, if not, it'll be very interesting to see a potentially new ICE powertrain - unless they simply retain the B58.

The Internal Combustion Engine is dead, no matter how much we want that to not be true. This is your last opportunity to get onboard with a new, relatively affordable manual rear wheel drive sportscar.

Any company betting on ICE at this stage in the game is betting on a guaranteed loser.

This is the end of the world as we know it 🎵

No it is not dead. Petrolium ICE is dying but Hydrogen ICE & Synthetic + Biofuel ICE are in the works

Toyota is not betting on just ICE. They are utilising different technology to different platforms to achieve specific engineering goals. So will other car manufacturers. Especially a sports car manufacturer like Porsche.
