??? I am so confused, that would require them to either ship the car to Asia/ Japan and then go across the Pacific to a port in CA, or cross the Atlantic and go through Panama to go to the other side of the US....?
European cars most likely go through the Panama canal to get to the west coast. And in reverse, say for China made consumer goods would go through Panama canal to get to the east coast.

Did some more digging online and it seems JAPANESE Toyota's do arrive in Long Beach, but I think BMW's arrive at the port of Hueneme in Ventura county.
Thank you! this makes sense. Lets pray to the BMW/Toyota Gods that it arrives soon!

Hi Team,

Can you please help. After waiting for weeks thinking my supra was getting ready to deliver, I was just told my new supra was damaged in shipping and is at the indiana plant to see if they can fix it. What do you all recommend???? Thank you.

I'd ask what the damage was and then try and get an estimate on the timing for the repair. With that information decide if you'd rather wait for the repair or go out looking for another Supra. With it being shipping damage I'd imagine it is paint/bodywork related and not something mechanical.

Your correct, it sounds like paint/body, but I found out Toyota is not shipping the car and will fix it inside their Indiana factory so the car is in as new condition when shipped to the dealership. I was also told that since a Toyota factory is fixing it before shipping it to a dealership, it will never be considered damaged and therefore does not need to be disclosed as a damaged vehicle. I did not know this.

Ya common thing. If it's damaged in transit and under certain value. They can fix it without being on the carfax or disclosed when selling.

Same thing happened to my supra as well.
It got damaged while under Toyota care. Since the damage was under $1500, they were able to order the part(s), replace and then send to the dealer. The dealer ensured me that it would be reported on carfax (50-50 on this) since it wasn't an "accident" ... idk if anyone has access to carfax could check.

Got really good news from the dealer.

Sharing my timeline since seeing other's timelines helped me a bunch. I don't have the exact dates since my dealer didn't share the official stages, but will do my best:

03/04 - Emailed dealer asking if they had my spec - this was one of 10+ dealers I emailed within a 100 mile radius.
03/10 - Put deposit down - one of 2 deposits I had. I *only* put deposits with dealers that had refundable deposits.
03/14 - Car shows up on Toyota Inventory site - car didn't show up on the site until this date. I was checking everyday, several times a day.
03/28 - Freight Status - Toyota Inventory changed to "car in transit"
04/04 - Processing
04/06 - Car arrived at dealership (Virginia)

What are the specifics about your car? Model? Color?
