Assuming the car is built, which is becoming more and more of an uncertainty, a 2018 model year or even 2019 model year seems more likely.
Kind of scary how silent it's been on the car. Really hope it's not a sign of it never coming.

I been watching reviews of the Mustang GT350 and GT350R. Makes me wish Toyota had a car to compete with those, which is what the new Supra could be. I can't get over the interior styling and yes the connotation that comes with owning a Mustang.

I am certain we'll know more @TMS 2015 in November. What Lexus might present with the highest probability is the LS concept (but I would prefer it not to be there from a marketing strategic point of view). The LC will be @NAIAS 2016. As for BMW, the M2 is on the short list, and as it will not be @Frankfurt 2015, it could either be @TMS 2015 or NAIAS 2016.

Following BMW tradition, true concept cars (Vision and Hommage concepts) never enter production, but concepts presenting future models are always the production car (frozen design) dressed-up as concept. These are presented no more than a year before the real production car. Knowing the Z4 will stop production in November 2016, I would not expect any Z5 Concept @TMS 2015 and @NAIAS 2016, but rather @Geneva 2016.

Now that leaves us with Toyota, and here we are in the unknown for now. A facelift for the GT86 is imminent, according to the usual 7 year lifecycle of the automotive industry. But Toyota has rarely followed that cycle. On the 'waiting list' are the Supra (which I don't think will be called Supra and could also be only a two seater) and the sub-86 sports car. Rumors were about some "Ariel" type of car, or more similar to Honda's S660. But Honda will also unveil an "Ariel" type of car as concept @Frankfurt 2015. Then there are rumors of GT86 successor based on Mazda MX-5. If that is true, the GT86 might end having a short 5 year lifecycle.

We really can't tell, but nothing is dead (hopefully no financial crash, even it we know it will happen sooner or later). What is sure however is that the will be no range sports cars of all sizes, simply because this market is declining.

There is absolutely nothing that the FT-1 could be previewing other than Supra revival or a totally new nameplate. Is it certainly not an S660 competitor. Also don't forget that Tada san and others at Toyota (including in one of their FT-1 videos) have actually said the Supra by name.

A 2 seater? Doubtful if based off of the FT-1 which of course was 2+2. No reason to believe the plans will change. IMO if Toyota wants a 2 seater the 86 or sub 86 is the better candidate.

Levi I hope this financial crash you are talking about does not happen at all but if it does hopefully it's not until after this car comes out though the signs of this bubble bursting should've been happened a while ago. Last thing we need is another FT-HS repeat.

Why the complete silence on the Supra now? Think something has changed in terms of the Supra or maybe they were just busy working on the S-FR Concept?

Waiting for the Detroit NAIAS 2016. Hopefully we see the updated version of what will be coming as well as more info on specs (based on the interview Tada San had at the Tokyo Auto Show a few months ago). The forum has been quiet but I guess it's cause all the topics have been covered and it's all been what we hope to see or wish, rather than hearing/seeing actual information from the horses mouth 'TOYOTA'. It will be 2 years since the FT-1 debut, Toyota it's time to give us something official if you're serious about this car.

OT, but interesting bit about a real hot hatch. Does that mean they're going to kill off the Yaris and bring a real hot hatch that is actually more focused on performance than the Yaris?

More unconfirmed but interesting recent jibirish:

https://carsfeatured.com/2017-toyota-supra/

Ok get ready for this. Toyota and BMW are making a car together. Their main focus is quality. We can find on the web a little information about this powerful car. This collaboration between Toyota and BMW is like Batman and Superman in a new movie Dawn of Justice. Just awesome. Name of the car is going to be the new 2017 Toyota Supra. Many features of this one are yet to be revealed. As we know so far Toyota will be in charge of the hybrid technologies and BMW will be in charge of the chassis and the engine.

2017 Toyota Supra Redesign
Exterior
The new 2017 Toyota Supra on the first look has a very aggressive appearance, but if you take a little better look you will find extraordinary elegance too. There were some rumors that Supra is going to be built on FT-1 design, but that is not true. Other design will be used. The dimensions of the car are known. It will be 450 by 184 by 134cm and it will have a wheelbase of 250cm. It will also have 19 inch light alloy wheels for movement and 20 inch rims you will be able to find on the rear wheels.

Interior
The first thing you notice inside is elegance and space. You will find a lot of space inside. All the passengers are going to be satisfied. Black leather is the main interior feature. It is a dominant material in the car. Safety features are great. There is also a fantastic 10 inch touchscreen.

2017 Toyota Supra Engine
The new 2017 Toyota Supra is going to have two engine options. The first one will be a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbo engine with 240 horsepower and 330 pound feet of torque. The second engine option is going to be a 6-cylinder turbo model with 335 horsepower and 330 pound feet of torque. There are rumors that 2017 Toyota Supra is going to have an electric motor as a third option with a 470 horses. Top speed will be 190mph and it will go from 0mph to 60mph in 3.6 seconds.

2017 Toyota Supra Release Date and Price
The new 2017 Toyota Supra will be released some time in 2016. Probably during the next Detroit Auto Show in January or maybe in March at the Geneva Auto Show. The price will be about $55,000.

Since the LC will not be here until 2017; this makes me think 2018 or later :(
