Is a JB+ enough to make the clutch slip? ?
No, it isn't. I have my JB+ maxed out on my MT with 0 slip at all. ~1400 mi (few hundred with JB+)

I would say yes. The clutch pretty much starts slipping before you have maxed out the stock turbo and JB4 is more than capable of doing that with a custom tune. If you keep it under control with the OFT maps you should be okay for a bit but these cars are to new to know how the stock clutch would hold up long term on a mild/oft tune.
JB+ is not a JB4. you are looking at +40 WTQ at most.

I want to try it, but then again, I don’t since the reports of clutch slippage on stock power lol.
Just go for it. I took the leap and my clutch has been fine so far.

Agreed. Any and all tuning hesitation I had flew out the window the moment aftermarket clutch upgrades became available.

Right, but you yourself have never tried this, so what exactly what the f*** do you know?

You just wanted to come here and s*** on people and tell them they're making stuff up? Okay...
I'm not shitting on anyone. It's a perspective on psychology and the way 99% of people seem to work. Ever wondered why 99% of the mods people do to their car their feedback is "it's great/awesome, big improvement". Happens all the time to the point where unless I have some data I tend to have a hard time believing feedback from people that have spent their own money on parts. People by nature don't really want to admit what they've invested in isn't that great or of no to little benefit. Add to that wanting the social media love and well.....
I've also noticed that people tend to exaggerate any small idiosyncrasies a car or bike has and turn it into a major weakness that needs immediate correction/modification and when you get to drive or ride them it turns out to be a first world problem not worth worrying about if it exists at all. It's social media magnification and human nature combined. These days I'm highly sceptical of anything that's presented as an "issue or problem" on a car or bike until I've experienced it myself.

Where’s all this anger coming from? It’s just his opinion, lighten up dude. No attack on you. We all want to help each other on here. You both have been very helpful on this forum. Keep it that way. Opposing views are what makes us better, smarter and ultimately give us a broader perspective.

Watch that guy sometime and see how he handles opposing views. Absolutely brilliant!

The supra is my 4th manual BMW. I've removed the CDV on all of my previous ones and I am going to for the supra as well. I wouldn't keep doing it if it didn't make a noticeable difference. Until you experience them side by side, you won't realize how much of a difference it makes in improved drivability. With the CDV in place the clutch on these cars just does not operate consistently.

Having said that, I highly doubt this is going to fix the issue for everyone having clutch slipping problems. Removing it will reduce the extra slip introduced by the CDV but that likely isn't the main culprit behind what people are experiencing.

We still don't really have enough data to even say if this is an issue with the clutch itself or something else such as a manufacturing flaw on some of the early cars.

Awesome, thanks for this! Going to order one now and thanks for your experience with JB+. No interest in JB4 at the moment.

I'm 100 miles shy of 8k and have zero signs of my clutch slipping and was hesitant on adding a JB+. It's lite enough though.

I just got the JB+ and just like you I'm not interested in tuning atm. JB+ is the best bang for the buck out there! You'll feel the difference day 1 of the install with the factory JB+ boost setting.

Awesome, thank you! I'm very happy with the stock performance, but just looking to add a little more drama. JB+ on max is enough drama. JB4 or full tuning is too much drama for me haha.

I had JB+ on my previous bimmers and was always a good experience and just enough to satisfy. Glad it's working fine with the MT's! Just ordered one.

Just a downpipe on your car right?

Will you dyno again anytime soon? LOL

I want to see if this is the route I'd go because the whole ship your ECU bullshit is annoying as hell.

Glad I could help. Wrote more about ethanol blending with it in another thread too if interested.

TLDR: up to e30 works fine on JB+ and helps with power consistency.

Did you feel your past bimmer needing parts replaced sooner/ parts prone to failing prematurely?
