I am hopeful that the MKV is going to turn into a monster as soon as aftermarket companies and tuners get ahold of it!B58 is at 613whp, another 300whp to go. So 1000hp+ is the threshold to use a Supra badge? How many years of development does the aftermarket for the MKV get to meet that threshold?
As far as the Supra badge threshold goes... I believe the reason Supra's still demand a premium price tag in today's market is for the simple fact that people know you don't have to do much internally to the motor or rear end if you are knocking at the 900whp door. I also believe, it has to do with the fact that the MKIV has aged so well, even compared to a lot of cars today, it looks ahead of its time. People still to this day ask me what kind of car I drive and are blown away when I tell them its a 93' or a 98'.
I think the MKV is going to do really well and I hope it's a success to be honest. I would really like Toyota to continue to pursue more sports cars in the future and I wouldn't mind a badass gasoline/electric Supra down the road. It needs to be a success in order for us to see something exciting from Toyota down the road.
