haha. I have been chasing new/old cars. Lots of buying/selling. Finally decided to quit f'ing around, so committed to a point series and spent my ENTIRE car fund on a classic car to keep forever. That forced me to stop shuffling cars around and focus and enjoy what I have.@kaj Haha. Yeah I did say “excluding driver skill.” Hoping to eventually get on a track with the Supra, but currently slaving away and saving towards another addition to add to the stable.
In the same boat as you and Im waiting on tuning for now. CA emissions is annoying AF.
For MHD, flashing back to stock, does that remove the unlock? I believe it does? So then we’d have to repeat the process?Based on what I've seen, MHD flashes back to the original stock map with the correct CVN and CAL ID.
BM3 claims they do but I have doubts, since their emails were very vague. Another member emailed them was basically told they don't know.

It's fun stock, but a nice downpipe and a tune adding 80-100 more HP simply adds more smiles per gallon. Life is too short to be stock.I'll continue to watch.
I'm still not convinced this car needs more power.
Maybe once the suspension and aerodynamics are finished.
Just don't get reffed in the meantime...I just got my 2020 tuned on Ecutek and love it. I guess my outlook is that I don't have to worry about it until 2028 when I'll have to start getting the car smogged. By then, who the heck knows what nasty tricks California is going to be playing. Hopefully, I'll be long gone by then but if I need to flash back to stock to get it to pass smog in 5 years, then I'll deal with that 4 1/2 years from now. Until then, going to enjoy the crap out of the car.
Yeah, there is definitely that. Fortunately, aside from the tune, I am completely stock so chances are reduced. But there's always that one yahoo determined to make an example out of you. Life is risky, I guessJust don't get reffed in the meantime...
Yeah... But life's also too short to fight over warranty issues. ?It's fun stock, but a nice downpipe and a tune adding 80-100 more HP simply adds more smiles per gallon. Life is too short to be stock.
Or sell the car, I'm guessing.Just don't get reffed in the meantime...
Yeah I figure if I do sell, I can always have my dealership flash it to the latest code and poof! Like it never happenedOr sell the car, I'm guessing.
I've done that with a car. $350, but well worth it. The car sold immediately (not many smog-legal Evos in CA ?)Yeah I figure if I do sell, I can always have my dealership flash it to the latest code and poof! Like it never happened
My takeaway from this is that you have to explicitly request to preserve your factory stock tune on your unlocked ECU. Not ECUtek, BM3, MHD, or your tuner's version of a stock tune. It should be the actual stock tune that Femto preserved on the ECU when they unlocked it.Hi, all factory checksums and cvn are preserved after our unlock. But they may change after tuning, you need to ask your tuner to create a proper tune, so everything will be preserved "as stock".
Who do you request? FEMTO or tuner? ThanksMy takeaway from this is that you have to explicitly request to preserve your factory stock tune on your unlocked ECU.
