should consumers be worried about this new platform? i want to add that the Supra is affordable
"Affordable" is a relative term. For some it will be within reach, while most it will be "pricier" than the current offering.

As you know, a good part of the reason the R35 is still being developed is to recuperate costs.

It was developed pre-GFC so it consumed a lot of money... Have to try and get that back/milk it as much as practical.
Sure, it just seems like the R35 has undergone more significant enhancements and evolved at a faster pace compared to the A90/91 so far. Of course, it's still too early to make definitive judgments about the future of the A90/91 platform, as there's a good chance that we'll see more substantial improvements down the line closer to "shelf-life". Toyot is likely directing their efforts towards the upcoming platform.

The first three model years of the GTR had suspension (Damping + Spring rates), power (+5hp) and transmission tuning updates. Basically, the same as the first three/four model years of the MK5 Supra. The fourth model year of the GTR saw a power bump (+50hp) and larger updates to ECM/TCM programming, suspension, brakes and some chassis reinforcement.

The Supra saw significant updates in the second model year (+50hp, different compression, head, suspension updates, etc), Third year had a new transmission offered, steering rack and rear diff updates, so unless I am missing something, not sure you are correct? Technically the MK5 Supra evolved at a faster pace.

Well GTR is a teenager now, 14 yo..
Honestly back in 2009, despite financial crisis, there was no covid crap, chip shortage, much less stringent emission + other legislations, no EV push (except Tesla Roadster)... In a gist, more room for them to grow quickly. Yet, GTR is still a beast, a more complicated and if I may more unique car (at the time and even now) and I bet the engineering and manhours that went into the GTR was tenfold of Supra. Also, Nissan wasn't as cheap of a company back then.
So, this comparison to me doesn't make sense at all.

If the GRMN is actually released soon, it might be a worthwhile investment as we transition into this new electric/hybrid world of vehicles. It could be a future classic sought after car.

Thing is, I still haven't heard anything on a "GRMN" version coming state side. Has this been confirmed? There was (in the past) mentions of larger brakes, suspension tweaks, and even a different ratio differential.

The carbon fiber ramp up is what I am curious about....I hope I hear more soon.

M2 CS coming soon. This is the problem with a shared platform. BMW will not give Toyota it's S58 so it can steal it's sales.
S58 will most likely not pass Toyota’s reliability and durability standards. The B58 is so good because of Toyota’s push to improve its core offering from BMW. The S58 with Toyota’s involvement would be a slap in BMW M-division’s face.

Also, with more and more BMW’s going EV, they are becoming less dependent on Toyota for their hybrid technologies and less likely to co-develop further programs. BMW is distancing itself from Toyota now that they have no need for Toyota.

Oh great a hydrogen Supra/Z4.

I just hope they make the MR2 again and have the same designers that worked on the new Prius do that car.

i don't know if you saw, but BMW is retiring their DCT

weren't we hearing that the GRMN was going to have a DCT?

Never thought I'd say this about a Prius, but the new one does look good.

Has the GRMN ever been more than an unsubstantiated rumor perpetuated by click-blogs and enthusiasts?
