Hey guys,

Posting my first ever post on this forum, and it’s a bit of dilemma. Lately I have been thinking should I go from my Supra (that I love) to the G80 M3 xdrive.
Although I have loved the Supra (and it’s stock for the last 2 years) I just love the new BMW interiors and always wanted ambient lighting and that M feeling. With the Supra being a Nitro yellow I have gotten compliments in every drive I have ever made. But lately It feels more common but still people like it. But the M3 platform is so interesting and amazing capabilities, I’m really not sure if I should make the jump. Especially considering that The payment is more than double but is the car really worth more than double (in-terms of speed, features, etc) and Supra looks way better than M3 in my opinion.
Really confused, any comments and opinions are welcomed and appreciated! Thanks in advance

M3, like almost every BMW, is not special. I think it's a downgrade from Supra. Just s other saloon with too big engine (lovely interior though). I think you will change it and regret it quickly, unless you have a genuine need for bigger, more practical, bit still fast car.

In the end, it is very subjective topic and you should get what you feel works for you.

Ps. I'm so happy I didn't buy M2/3/4 and decided on Supra in the end (I'm coming mostly from Lotus cars).

The only M I would change to personally is the new M4 as the lines of that car are stunning.

Supra with S58 would be the perfect compromise for me if it existed ?

If you'd like to gain 700 lbs and look like angry birds go for it
Personally I don't like driving SUVs but some people do

Nothing we think matters. Go test one and decide yourself. Its your car.................

The Supra is a GT while the M3 is not.

But most ppl who own an M3 will most likely not drive it on a racetrack so it’s pretty good for daily driving / fun car too but the question is do you really need the racetrack features?

The M3 is much heavier than the Supra.
Around 400kg (~900 pounds) and you will notice that.
The M3 has higher maintenance costs compared to the Supra, not only because it has xdrive.
Higher repair costs, more expensive spare parts.
Not to mention the costs of tuning or mods.

But you will get an amazing performing car.
It has much more traction when going 0-60 and after corners.
You can switch between RWD and AWD.
The engine is solid and durable and if you want to sell the car you always get good money for the M3.

If you are coming from a stock Supra the M3 will outperform it in any way.
But the fun in the Supra begins after tuning.
It’s like riding a wild bull.

I certainly wouldn’t make that change, the M3 is a boat by comparison and looks just like every other BMW grocery-getter on the road. But you do you

A friend just picked up his new M3 manual in a beautiful deep red that itself was something like a $1600 option. It’s a striking car as spec’d, but the MSRP was $85k. If you want a pretty large (it looks the size of a previous gen M5) high performance sedan, it’s a great choice. For my money, I’d look at the new Integra S and save -$35k.

That car looks fantastic. I’d spec it in white, red interior, bronze wheels. If I were in the market, I’d buy one immediately.

Depends, you obviously like how the supra looks more than the M3. Supra has better power protentional compared to the M3. Yes I love my BMW's M3 and M4 included. However, there is something about the Supra that any other BMW misses, and you can't put a pin on it. Lightweight and powerful. Twin turbo does mean more power, but single turbo is more fun. Weigh your pros and cons.

Supra:

Pros: Lighter, more power potential, sexier, a GT car if you will, less expensive, less expensive parts/ service, less expensive mods, track car

Cons: Cars is way faster after tunning and mods(putting this cons because ur's is stock), older interior, less of a family car,

M3:

Pros: Faster stock, more of a family car, S58 engine, twin turbo(depends on ur preference), AWD to RWD switchability, more unique colors, newer interior

Cons: Heavier, more expensive parts / service, less of a GT car, not a track car per say

And a bunch of other these are at the top of my head.

Why the downgrade especially since you say you love the supra, just to brag and say the other car costs more and is more capable than the supra? Either way the only 4 door sport cars id bother with are hatchbacks, i don’t consider any sedan a sporty car, but thats just me, sticking with only coupes and hatches

Appreciate all of you guys. I have driven the M3 (but haven’t tried sharp handling) in a short test drive. Of course I didn’t get 100% of the feel of the car, but the car felt slightly faster than a Supra. Not a whole lot. Maybe I didn’t give it all, might need to drive it again.
but overall I’m surprised by how many of us prefer the Supra to an M car. As for M cars I’m not opposed to an M4 either

Forgot to mention that the Integra is manual only. I know you currently drive an auto and the X Drive is auto only, so the Integra might not even be an option.
