The power delivery in the JB+ is too surgey. Ie: it feels like the extra boost is surging on and off in the mid range revs. It's getting on my nerves so I bought a JB4 to datalog the issue.
I am having the same issue. Dialed the knob to between 3 and 4 oclock and it seems better but still there.

Same, I had it maxed out for a while but now have it dialed the same as you. Its better now but not gone, and any pulls 4k-redline is perfectly smooth and very powerful. Its just the 2.5k-4k feels like shit, especially partial throttle.

I wonder if it is an MT specific issue? Some days it doesn't have the surging at all.

Also ordered the JB4 and am going to trade the JB+ in. At max the car did feel like it had a big power surge. If I kept everything stock and the dial at the factory setting for the JB+ I would be thrilled. But I’d like a smoother throttle and safer map (going with a Jesse dabears tune)!

Nice! I got my unit secondhand off here, which I believe already has a Jesse Map 6 - might need some tinkering to dial in for my specific build.

I really just want to be able to datalog and see what's going on. At least if the JB4 has the same surging - I'll know why. I suspect it is something wastegate related, and why the JB4 comes with a controller for that.

No limp mode or codes running mine with catless. I will say that I'm upgrading to JB4 this week since I don't like the partial-throttle surging of the JB+.

I have done faster pulls than that at similar temps with no issue. Maybe I would recommend running JB+ at 3 o clock position (or lower on 91). When temps are really high, your car will request higher boost to meet load targets. With the ~4+ psi stacked on top, it can exceed factory safety limits more easily.
I only use 93 or 94 octane gas and I was going faster-ish that was just a summarization when it happened

Didn't even realize you had a manual lol

Well that all sounds troubling.. earlier posts/reviews don't seem to mention this. Ugh.

Mine doesn't surge turned up all the way to max. I mix 91/e85 to about e30.

Yeah not sure. I have tried 93 up to E30 and it is present either way (it does pull a little harder on E though).

I don't remember it being an issue for the first month or so of JB+. Might have something to do with being July in the south and being 100 degrees. 🤷‍♂️ It's possible I just drove it enough to start noticing or the long term ECU adaptations f'd it up.

Reading through Burger's info on the B58 JB4, and saw this interesting bit to share:

Boost targets drop as you approach the fuel limit. For us who tried E30+, there must be a level where you start to lose power.

I'm assuming our cars being the high performance O1 engine variant (factory PPK tuning?) means we should be able to handle E30ish without any boost being pulled though.

Happy to say the JB4 does not have this issue. (then again, neither did the JB+ to start). I wonder if its an MT-only problem.

Will report back after more driving, but I gotta say after seeing how easy the JB4 install was, you may just want to consider going that route instead.

I suspect the surging issue I experienced was throttle closures due to overboosting - shouldn't be a huge deal, just annoying. Try turning down the dial some more.

Haven't come across this jerky issue yet halfway through my second tank of E blend. Auto though....

I'm going to try and see if I can datalog with bm3 or Bimmerlink. I still have the JB+ installed on my car, stock tune, AA DP, ecu locked, (for now), and no other engine mods. I'll report back.
