OEM wheels? A good alignment does wonders for this car. Especially if you’ve changed your wheel & tire size. I have SPL parts and eccentric lockouts so we can set it and attempt to forget it the beginning of track season. At the end of season, I’ll put my OEM wheels back on and go back to a spec alignment.

Do you have a race alignment shop in your area? They tend to have better equipment and know how to deal with nuances than your big box cookie cutter “throw it on the machine Charlie!” place 😂

Yep! I'm on OEM wheels. There's a pretty good shop I'm gonna take it to this week

I'm also having this issue after the same condition. Got brand new PSS's on the rears and now my car sways left and right when going in highspeeds. I adjusted the pressure and not much inprovement. I might just change my fronts and re-align
pretty certain new tires have a break in period.. something like 500ish miles before they start feeling right..

If the only thing that changed were tires, I personally wouldn’t go chasing a problem..

I'm curious to see how you guys resolve all this. Changing tires should never cause a car to do anything of this stuff.
Weird. I'm assuming the tire settings were reset when the tires were changed. I wouldn't put it past BMW crap computers to Make a car feel unsafe to drive lol

I had the same problem. I lowered the tire pressure to around 30 psi and it significantly reduced the swaying.
But if I was going fast on a huge sweeper, the esc would kick on occasionally.
All of those problems were alleviated when I finally changed my front tires about 5,000 miles later.
In summary, change your front tires too and you most likely won’t have that problem

I have a friend who did the exact same thing and it solved his problem

That still makes zero sense. Changing the fronts to fix it makes even less sense.
Unless it's an ECU problem.

Have to agree but… I have found this car more sensitive than my other track cars, with the slightest of change. The SPL parts have helped me the most. But that’s really getting aggressive and you need a special alignment shop to dial her in right.

I had the exact same problem with the exact same tirewear. The insides were toast before the rest of the tire, which made rain driving terrifying but it never triggered the VCS unless I was really getting into an exit. I got new rears since the fronts were still in great shape, but the PSI was 44 when I got them. And it causes that bitch to wobble like crazy as highway speeds. So, I guess the goal is to get new tires for the front that match the rear tread patterns, get the PSI right and all should be well again. What a wild ride (pun intended) this has been.

So a stiffer tire as in more psi of air will cause a tire to sway? How can it sway if there is no side wall flex? I tow heavy and when I’m towing like 12k pounds or heavier I put more air in my tires to give them more rigidity.

Same size? 275/35/19 or something else?

That is 1000% an alignment issue. Toe is way out of spec. Any abnormal tire wear is always an alignment issue (or a parts issue that is causing weird alignment issues).

Here is a list of things people should do when the car feels odd, or you have odd tire wear:

1. Get your alignment checked
2. Check your tire pressure
3. Check for bent suspension components
4. Don't go weird sizes on OEM wheels because it looked icy hot at some car parking lot meet. Just because a tire states it can fit on a 10" wide wheel, doesn't mean it will feel fine on a 10" wide wheel.

#1 should be done to ANY Supra as soon as you purchase it. My Supra wanted to kill me every chance it got when I bought it. I did a proper alignment and it all went away.

BTW, If you don't mention what rim width, model and size of rear tire you're running in your inquires about "swaying" then you can go die in a ditch.

Reviving this thread to see if a soltuion(s) hss been identified.

Has an alignment solved the swaying issue for anyone with factory OEM sized tires?

Repeating what has been said a million times. The alignment on our cars sucks from the factory. First thing you should do on your way home is get your car aligned. First mod should be an alignment. If you haven't got an alignment, get an alignment. My car like many others was way off and an alignment made it all better. Moral of the story, get an alignment. If that's not clear enough, you need an alignment.

But bro, my cousin said my inner tire wear is from the reverse rotation of my brain. I think he is right, it can’t be alignment, I just bought the car a year ago!
