I always thought hydrogen should be the future. Problem is you don't have a hydrogen "Tesla" to pave the way at the moment. Toyota could maybe do it, but I feel it needs a crazy billionaire type to throw everything at the ideaFuelCell Energy and Toyota Announce Completion of World's First "Tri-gen" Production System
PLANO, Texas and DANBURY, Conn. (Sept. 7, 2023) – FuelCell Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: FCEL) and Toyota Motor North America, Inc. (Toyota) have announced the completion of the first-of-its-kind “Tri-gen system” at Toyota’s Port of Long Beach operations. The Tri-gen system, owned and operated by FuelCell Energy, produces renewable electricity, renewable hydrogen, and water from directed biogas. FuelCell Energy has contracted with Toyota to supply the products of Tri-gen under a 20-year purchase agreement.

exactly my thoughts, but now it's progressing slowly thru "proper channels"I always thought hydrogen should be the future. Problem is you don't have a hydrogen "Tesla" to pave the way at the moment. LolThe Mirai is only mildly successful, not in small part on account of the fact Toyota doesn't really go out of its way to promote it, or make it a global phenomenon. It's there, it works, but nobody really cares about it.
That's probably what will happen with the latest gimmick in the realm of truly clean electric power, the hydrogen fuel cell Hilux pickup truck. It's a contraption that was revealed this week over in the UK with no apparent reason other than to prove that it can be d one.
The trouble with it is primarily the hydrogen generation infrastructure and refueling station infrastructure being very sparse currently. The automakers and pretty much every other player sees it as a chicken or egg problem... so with only so much buildout of the refueling stations only so many people can make use of the current HCV cars anyway and so only so many are built.I always thought hydrogen should be the future. moved down? 2030 --> 2035.Apparently the death of ICE cars date has been moved up:

We have enough oil to last us a few centuries….it’s true. As a matter of fact, we (US) have so much, that before 2020 we were not only meeting demand domestically but we were selling to other countries with no sign of shortage in sight. Can’t say that about batteries! This whole EV movement is to make some people very very rich, and has NOTHING to do with logic of climate change or travel efficiency. Believe me, if we get a new administration in 2024, the ICE will see a huge growth in production and sales.Apparently the death of ICE cars date has been moved up:

You’re saying it’ll get worse before it gets better, the ship ? has sailed and there’s no turning back ? Maybe Australia will share the math with the rest of the nations? We have enough oil to last us a few centuries….it’s true.
