Lol.

Manual MKV Supra = Turbo 86/BRZ
(Not in terms of performance)

On the other note/poll though

Would you guys prefer the MKV Supra with a Toyota developed turbo inline 6 but Auto only or a MKV Supra with the given B58 with Manual

Iā€™m an Alchemist, but there must be an equivalent trade.

I didnā€™t think I would like the autos, but being able to paddle shift and very quickly in my GTR satisfied my need for a manual transmission.

My choice would be a Toyota developed engine if it was letā€™s say the next ā€œ3JZā€ with an 8 spd auto dual clutch.

I registered on this forum just so I could gripe....

Why is it that Toyota cannot make a sports car without some type of asterisk?

86 - under-powered

RCF - monstrosity of a chassis, long geared transmission dulls the power

Supra - no manual

To say that having a manual supra takes away from the 86 is just lazy. No offense to anyone who owns a 86 but when I think of that car, I think of some little boy who got his parents to buy him a $200 t-shirt that says "Supreme" on it. I'm sure that's not a sentiment shared but everyone but also, i'm sure that i'm not the only one who feels like that. Can someone it Toyota's marketing team please tell me the logic of patting yourselves on the back for offering a manual Corolla hatch and then calling it "sporty" but not offering one in your halo sports car? Why is it you can bring to market a TRD Camry and TRD Avalon (that no one even asked for) but not a manual Supra?

Toyota, if you only read one thing, let it be this:

Corolla, Camry, Avalon = not sporty so please stop forcing "sport trims" down our throats. The TRD name is so over-saturated that its not synonymous with the phrase "appearance package with no real, tangible performance mods unless you count "stiffer shocks":crazy::crazy:)

Supra = sporty so just give us the damn manual; my checkbook is waiting

Manual for sure. For me, there is no question. I honestly could care less about the engine. Give more than 250 hp at least, but definitely want a great feeling car to drive and a great looking car before all else.

oooooo Good one. I probably am fine with the b58 as long as its manual...

Manual for sure

We live in an interesting time; everyone is looking for something to be pissed off at these days. BMW makes amazing turbo straight-six engines. Toyota utilizing BMW is definitely not a bad thing.

Toyota has not made a straight six engine since the 90s. The one performance engine they have in their stable is the 3UR engine in the RCF/GSF/LC500. If Toyota used that engine instead, everyone would be bitching about how it's a V8. Don't even get me started about how the drive train on those cars is absolute crap.

First, it's the 2UR. The AA80E is old (first 8 speed ever if I remember correctly), but statistically it has no reliability issues at all and it shifts pretty quick for it's age. Not crap by any means. The direct shift 10 speed in the LC is no slouch either.

The only issue with the 2UR is that it only comes in heavy sedans and coupes, otherwise it sounds amazing and makes very decent numbers for its age being NA in a world of FI german and American V6/V8s.

The Supra should have gotten the next Lexus performance engine, a TT V6 like the V35A. If it did, even with only an auto, all the haters would shut up (probably not the manny tranny lovers though).

haha, iirc they are within ~30lbs of each other, with the 34 being 3430 and the 33 being 3395

it's just funny because people always make jokes about the 33 being a boat, which compared to the 32 it certainly is, but the 34 is the same damn thing
SO TRUE, I never understood why people hate the r33 so much, I always liked them.
