I sold all my fun cars a while back as they weren’t getting used but late 2021 I got the itch to have something fun again for weekend drives and track days.

Looked into a few options but decided to branch out from my usual BMWs and, after confirming I can just barely fit in it, I bought a Supra.

Previous owner sold it with lowering springs, downpipe and tune and the body kit. I was a bit hesitant about the body kit, but it looked good in person.

I took it to my local track, Wanneroo raceway, for a tuning session about three hours after picking it up.
1524kgs with a full tank is about what I expected. Not light for such a smal car, but that is modern cars.

I was pretty impressed with the performance on stock tyres, pads and suspension and saw the potential for some quick times.
So I thought I would see how fast it can go with the minimal number of parts thrown at it.
So far I've been very impressed with the quality of all the parts I've used.

The current mod list is;
Catless Downpipe
Off the shelf MHD e30 tune
AMS Intake Manifold (for cooling)
Mfactory Coilovers and camber plates
Apex EC7RS forged wheels 18x11 et40
295/35/18 Advan A052 tyres
Circo race pads

and how it sits now (actually raised it from the HKS lowering springs as it scraped on too many things for my liking).

I also threw it on the dyno as I was getting questions at the track about how much power it had.
It suprised me putting down 500hp on a hub dyno with just the DP, AMS manifold and an OTS tune. Stock intake, chargepipe and exhaust.

RIght now I'm very happy with the performance and not sure what I could do to improve it without ruining it as a true street car. I've done a 7 hour country road drive in it and also use it for school drop off sometimes lol.

On the track it is a beast. Best time around Wanneroo is currently 60.9 seconds and there is more in it with better driving.
I'm sure they exist but I struggled to find times from a true street car faster than that. Best I could find was a 991 GT3RS doing a 60.5.

This is a video of the current best lap

Those bumpers look so much better without the side markers we have. Even the paint matched ones don't always look great.

&& those track pictures look so good. Awesome build

Thanks mate, night events are good for glow shots.
I have a decent collection of them from previous cars.

This is one of my favourites (M140i with Alcon BBK)

Looks awesome! Pretty much the build I'm going for, something I can take on long trips, and with a few clicks of adjustment, go to the track.

If you're looking for other things to do, check out Verus's turbo heatshield, brake master brace, and diff scoop. That and a front swaybar. I've heard from a number of people that simply the front is all thats needed and makes a huge difference. Not to mention its a 10min install. I should be getting mine later today.

Congrats on joining the club!

That was the idea.
I do have the turbo heatshield already. Heat management is a priority as it get's pretty hot here in Western Australia. I was having issue with IATs causing power to drop on track, but the AMS manifold seems to have fixed it but I guess I will find out properly in Summer.

It also just got it's first proper detail since I bought it.
They said they had to use a fair bit of tar remover and iron remover to remove the track debris but they managed to do it without ruining the PPF and gave it a full machine polish. Scrubbed up alright.

great writeup!!! I just got my 2020 Launch Edition with 4000 miles and already have it full bolt on. My next mod is the AMS intake manifold and flex fuel sensor. Its makes around the same 500whp and now want to do a aggressive alignment and front sway bar.

Nope.

Car is now in the shop for a bunch of upgrades
Swaybars and braces, PWR heat exchanger, Verus brake duct kit with steering limters.
And the bigs ones are an AMS Alpha 8 turbo kit and full CSG spec fuel system with surge tank and port injection.

Zach from CSG is going to be doing a flex tune with ECUtek.
Curious to see how it goes on e85. Thinking a transmission upgrade will be required soon.

Haven't updated this in a while.
So we got the fuel system and turbo done and sorted all the teething issues.

IMG-2193.jpg

The fuel system might be my favourite part.

Zach's tune was pretty spot on straight off the bat but he is still fine tuning it for me because he is a boss.
Took it to the same dyno I used previously which wasn't the best one for it as it got errors for too much torque (it's more of a Honda shop).
Made roughly 620whp on Map 3 and 680whp on Map 4.
The light pink line is stock turbo on e30.

AMS-Alpha-8-dyno.webp

Took it to the track and 6th gear left the chat, so I got it built by ATA in Sydney.

Went back to the track and got my sub 60 lap which I was super stoked about.

Also got to another track a few hours away which I haven't been to since 2018 for various life reasons (3 kids and 3 business).
Nearly put it into the wall at the start of the day so was tip toeing around the corners the rest of the day.

Then we cut a hole in the bonnet.

IMG-4653.webp

Took off the street hunter wing (was pretty poorly installed by the previous owner) and the front lip (was cracked).
I don't mind the clean stock look for now.
This is with the daily.

Have a few things in the pipeline just waiting on the following parts
-Alcon Big Brake kit
-AGI Half cage
-Seat mount for proper seat and harness.

Also have a livery in the works. THis is the first draft, i went with the BMW M colours because.

So this is the mod list for now

-AMS Alpha 8 turbo kit
-CSG spec fuel system
-Flex tuned by Zach at Counter Space Garage
-AMS Intake Manifold
-Mfactory Coilovers and camber plates
-Cusco sway bars
-Apex EC7RS forged wheels 18x11 et40
-295/35/18 Advan A052 tyres
-Circo race pads
-Verus brake ducts

Also looking at aero options but haven't pulled the trigger as I kind of like how it flies under the radar, but the livery will change that anyway.

Great build and job with her! Question on that seat. Is it functional? Can you really use that over the OEM seat (save a ton of money and put it in just for track days)?

Homie are you serious? First of all, that is the passenger seat, secondly, that is a kids seat insert. Lmao.
