I love that manufactures have just started calling colors grey.

I swore that was Zandvoort blue at night.

It's a weird grey - I call it anime grey because it looks a bit out of this world. Also, the photos have been edited to make the yellow look right, so the grey is a little off. And, sitting next to the Zandvoort Blue, Brooklyn Grey looks quite different again!

Had my 3.0 for almost a year now and am 2nd on my BMW dealership's list for a G87 M2. Bought the Supra as a place holder but have really grown to enjoy it. Main concern about the M2 is the weight... The Supra is just so nimble.

Kind of hoping it takes a while before my allocation drops. Anyone else in the queue for an M2?
You're not concerned with the hideous looks? I've seen many in person by now in most the colors they offer and it's just not a beautiful design but of course this is completely subjective. I think the best value in new cars right now is a Z51 spec C8, the M2, and the Supra. Little doubt you wouldn't be happy with the M2 but I think it's a different category of car: not a pure sports car, having the unnecessary weight of a seat and all the additional modern conveniences that add weight overall, the M2 is a sports coupe, not sports car IMO. Driving dynamics will certainly be different between the two.

While I'm sure that BMW is doing backflips over this award, to me it speaks to just how poor the current crop of new performance vehicles there are in the marketplace.
Poor. Did you read it. Toss the Supra in that crop as well then. Deep BMW DNA to start with. I could not be in more agreement with the article as an owner. Pick something else that literally 'does it all' as a car/ performance car and toss in track duty.

Frankly the best overall performance cars are the Supra, the M2 etc. Not the Porsche's given the markups and horrid maintenance costs etc. Poor lol. Oh.........ok. Dog eat your lunch or lose your homework? The Emira weighs less but has a lousy manual gearbox and an old Toyota motor. The 4cyl is hamstrung with a crap gearbox but good engine.

Given what is on order in the article the M2 balances all the others around it rather well given most cost more. Go drive an M2. Spend some time in it. Define performance vehicle for yourself. I never even tested the M2. My 17 M2 was my comparison. Both are good the new one certainly better but with similar qualities that assist in its overall usefulness for a variety of missions!

I knew it would be that good based on the last prototype tests of the virtually finished 'pre production' model a good BMW Mech/prototype developer had access to. Road, track, trip to the market or just enjoying a more leisurely drive the M2 does not at all disappoint. Another superb BMW coupe' and M-car. Whats sad about the 'marketplace' is how few there are that are this good. Again I consider the Supra and M2 at the top for a variety of factors noted in this article/expose'.

Wow, a bit defensive there. I was merely stating that the current “new” performance cars aren’t as exciting and plentiful as before, it wasn’t a shot at your M2, was more a comment on the current state of sports car selection.

While I personally wouldn’t pick an M2 over a Supra I can certainly understand why someone else would. I also would pick it over a lot of the new performance cars over the past year, like the Dark Horse Mustang, Emira, and C8 E-Ray.

He's French and has one of the ugliest cars currently for sale. So...

Like parents with a newborn that post 567,092 photos and they are like "omg it's the cutest thing ever, look at our beautiful kid" and you are looking at the photos like...

You can't be the same weight as a Honda Odyssey and be the "Performance' car of the year
You can only hide weight so much with power and big fat tires and big fat brakes
At the end of the day, the car will show it's true colors when pushed on the street by a normal guy who can only go 6/10ths of that car and wonder why it's so heavy and not want to change direction
My E85 Z4 M Roadster with a measely 330 HP , but is a far better performance car l, with actual hydraulic steering feedback
Long gone are the days when BMW made an enthusiast vehicle
Now they just make different versions of the same fat auto freeway cruiser
Coupe, bigger coupe, sedan, or SUV

There are an awful lot of Odyssey owners out there who definitely believe they are driving the PCotY.
