Interesting! It really seems way louder in videos.

the AWE is horrid loud on cold start, even with a catted DP but it’s so smooth once warmed up. Really howls too
I plan on recording some clips here in a couple days so I’ll see how it sounds on video compared to others, but it shouldn’t be too crazy loud.

Oh on cold start it’s pretty brutal, but much the same it smoothes out once it finishes the high idle period.

Oh thanks ! Wich HKS do you have ( Turbo muffler ? Hi power ? ) ? Im aiming the HKS Dual Hi-Power Catback exhaust. What Catted DP do you have ? Any CEL ? Tuning required ? does it affect car reliability ?

Thnak you
AA downpipe, no CEL , no tuning.

A bad cold start sound is a BMW signature

HKS is deep and smooth. Magnaflow isn't quite as deep and had more of a growl/rasp to it.

I've owned both exhausts. I got rid of the Magnaflow because it was way too loud in cabin for daily driving and made my doors rattle.

Out of the ones I’ve heard, probably the AWE

I bought my car with a Magnaflow + stock DP configuration (running the magnaflow straight-pipes on both sides), and I honestly don't think its that deep OR loud. Planning on switching to a 200 CEL catted DP to see where it takes thing as I'd like to wake it up a bit more. May swap the Magnaflow for a SP1R afterwards if I can modify the Verus diffuser to accomodate it, just not a fan of the Magnaflow tips. Sound-wise, I enjoy it as-is, but would 100% prefer to wake it up a bit more with a catless or hi-flo DP.

AWE is absolutely, 100% the best exhaust on this car. I’ve heard a bunch in person. Owned a few. Helped install some others. HKS is great, but it’s like an 8/10. AWE Touring is the pinnacle. It’s brutally loud, amazing tone, captures the mid range howl and gives you the option of res or non res. Any aftermarket DP sounds amazing with this setup! Can’t recommend it enough

No. AWE is a ton of mid range. Not deep like HKS/Injen that have a straight muffler. The AWE touring is just a Helmholtz resonator that kills drone. It’s loud and mid range. I haven’t heard remnant in person, but with the big diameter I bet it’s pretty deep. Not sure what the muffler design is

*source is me. I’ve owned HKS. Injen. AWE Touring Res. AWE touring non res. Currently on the car and my favorite is the Touring Non Res. The Res is a close second. Sound is unmatched IMO
sure.

My vote goes towards what I personally run, which is the magnaflow x mod. Muffler on the non valved side and no muffler on the valved side. Even with the stock downpipe it was pretty deep but with an AA dp that I had modified for a 3.5” exit to mate with the bigger piece the magnaflow comes with makes it deeper than most I’ve heard. I can post some sound clips next time I take it out if you’d like.
Same here. Wasn't a fan of them when I had an 86 but best sounding exhaust for the Supra, imo and options on the mid pipe and mufflers!

+1, I have the same setup and it sounds really great and pretty deep.

Anyone heard the combo of Borla with an AA down pipe?
We have a video on our Youtube channel with Borla but with a catless downpipe.
