surely you press this button and it turns your dipped beams off and leaves the side lights on, if you press off it turns off all running lights dipped and side lights and leaves DRLs on...

when parked if you press the side buttons it leaves that side's side lights on...

yeah i wanted to find out if there was a way to actually press it and leave only the DRLs on while driving. It only works when stopped or going under 20kmph

Would have to change the SW coding so it doesn't look at the speed input signal iam the same I hate the feature i know when i need lights or not and all my other vehicles don't have this interlock

I dont live in America. We have lit up highways. I dont want to blind the person driving in front of me.
--A general rule to follow is to avoid driving in the number one (far left) lane on highways due to the prevalence of high-speed drivers. These number one lane drivers may exhibit aggressive behavior (by flashing their headlights rapidly or tailgating in order to get the slower drivers to move to the right) if blocked. Night driving is particularly dangerous because some drivers do not turn on their headlights. --

Your own laws state headlights on. Grow up and drive safe. I spend alot of time in the Gulf area. Yes well lit roads are nice but in no country around the GCC are headlights recommended to be off at night. So move along and drive safe. This is not rocket science and your idea is BS.

If you want to turn it off, it's much easier to wire in a kill switch to the signal or ground side of the lights. I don't know of anyone being able to code it out yet. My Canadian spec can't even turn off the front DRL without shutting the car off regardless of what buttons I press, it makes shooting photo in the dawn or sunset a bit of a pain, wish Off meant off

if you finish reading page 3 of that thread, it doesn't work once you start driving

Just use a hammer ever so gently on all 4 corners and bam ? no more dipped lights on at speed. It’s dark outside so no one will notice.

On a serious note I’m sure it’s possible but I’ve never worried about blinding anyone in a lower than most sport car with low beams. If you have it jacked up with monster tires in your donk then definitely keep searching for an answer.

well i have no idea why you have taken this personally ?, however even though the law states that the headlights need to be on, 90% of the cars here turn off the low beams at night, even the cops do the same and the police themselves wont fine you or pull you over for running DRL’s at night. So i have no idea what you’re going on about. Im just looking to run DRL’s at night no need for the aggressiveness.

Could be different where you are. In the US, Canada & Europe (probably Asia too), the DRLs are less bright than full headlights and do not activate the tail lights. They are designed to increase the visibility of your car during the daytime & dusk. Making it easier for the other drivers to see you. It’s meant as a safety feature, not for better visibility for the driver (you).

Whereas the nighttime lights (real headlights) are meant to illuminate the road ahead during
. you guessed it, nighttime or low-visibility conditions. They also activate tail lights for better visibility from behind.

So probably why it seems so different to us. You wouldn’t see as well as you would with your nighttime headlights and others wouldn’t be able to see you from behind. That’s either not true where you’re at or it wasn’t explained clearly ?‍♂
