Any of you guys here use one of these? Any benefits to using one? I've heard it helps with keeping temps down, but most of my driving is done on the street, not the track. One of the comments I saw on an install video of one of these was " it helps keep the heat from the headers, turbo, and downpipe from getting to the intake. "

I currently have an AA Catted Downpipe, and am planning on purchasing a MST V2 Intake this week. Would buying one of these help me in any way?

look into the bimmernetwork heat shield if you want an option that doesn't require delicately balancing a bunch of spacers that you'll inevitably drop during the install.

Ah, good times. I pulled this off by pushing the bolt through a piece of painters tape to secure the spacers so they didn't slide off, then tore the tape away once I'd gotten the threads started. That was my second attempt.

I got one recently since I got a new intake. The install was fine except for the very bottom bolt, that one was a pain just because it's a tight area.

You can check out the other threads here and Verus's data on their site. It seems to be helpful to have a heatshield even for a non-track build so may as well get one if you're ditching the stock intake.

Maybe it's different on the 6 port but I had no issues with the installation hardware on mine. I also wrapped mine too, because GOLD.

The gold reflective tape doesn't end up peeling off from all the heat overtime?

Thank you for all the helpful replies, will pick one up since it’s not really pricey anyways, even if it helps just a little.

Nope. Not at all. I have the racecar all gold taped up for the last few years (which sees way more abuse).
Do you track all year round, cold suit & the works? I know the S2K can take it but it got hard for me ? toward the end of my time with her. If you don’t drive all year round, what’s your cut off time (I’m down to Oct - March)? Just curious and beautiful car David!!

Thanks man! Not to thread jack OP (sorry!). I used to drive year round but from getting older, the insane heat here in Florida, budget and the car having nonstop issues the last 3 years I pretty much take off from May - October. Though the car does have a cool shirt system (no AC though since it's gutted)

idk if I'm late to this thread, but when I did get an aftermarket Cold air intake it did remove the stock heat shield. I did notice the car felt sluggish, and I was thinking that i installed the air intake wrong until the mechanics at Toyota mention im missing my heatshield. They basically explained to me the air intake was just soaking up the turbos heat, so my car was not getting its best performance.

If I knew better I would of just got the resonator delete for the stock air intake from Verus Engineering just for the whoosh noises. Soon as I bought the heatshield the car felt so much faster and responsive.

TL;DR if you just want whoosh sounds get the resonator delete from Verus Engineering as it keeps your stock heat shield. If don't mind spending the dough on a cool air intake and aftermarket heat shield by all means go for it and get the heat shield.
