Racebred splitter + tunnels + cf endplates installed. Excuse the potato pic, it's actually a screenshot from a vid the shop sent me.

4 of these titanium blocks also installed

Think we figured out what to do with the tow strap. I'm going to unscrew the front plate and use it at the track (as i should be doing anyway....). Since the tow strap doesn't have a shaft, going to pick up one of these afe tow hooks and use the shaft/bolt.

Lastly, the other 2 underbody strakes arrived, so i have all 4 now. 2 for each side. Need to figure out the exact placement. They're about a foot long each.

I think this placement here where i drew the red lines would probably be best. not sure if there's any downside to drilling into that aluminum plate though so i car screw them in.

So we did some logs yesterday with the DAW turbo installed. Still on the map that was made for the Pure800, and on the low boost map. We decided against doing logs on the high boost map until we send these to the tuner to get a more appropriate map on. Granted the 2 turbos are similar, but they're still not identical....and even the earlier map was still not finalized as the pure800 shit the bed before we could get to that stage. Personally, i'd consider a map final when it goes through this kind of process:

Base map
Street logs
Revision
Street logs
Tuner confirmation
Track log (to simulate the exact environment the car was tuned for)
Revision/Tuner confirmation

Logs here, for anyone interested in having a look, or kind enough to share their 2 cents. My ability to interpret logs leaves a lot to be desired.

I think overall looks mostly fine, considering it's just a "base" map of sorts:

0 degrees of correction across all 6 cylinders throughout the entire pull. No knock. WGDC settles into the 75-80 range. Lamda tracking the target perfectly. HPFP holds steady at 4,600 and 5,000 psi, so no crash/dip. IATs dropped during the pull, thanks meth!

I'm still learning about Vanos. I see very little deviation from the target. 0.8 in one and 1.5 in the other. Solenoids seem healthy. Should i not also be looking at intake Vanos as well?

What i don't understand: the discrepancy between pre-throttle boost and manifold boost. 21-23 vs 16.5-17.5. That sounds like a fairly sizeable discrepancy? But then i looked at another log and it was much smaller @ around 1.5psi discrepancy. So i don't know what to make of any of that.

That tune needs some serious work. Boost control is horrid. I do understand it wasn't a complete tune and was for a different turbo.

You also need to log in 4th. 3rd is too short and you get too much wheel spin. You also need to log less items. You can easily cut out almost half of those items.

Hopefully the final tune is targeting more boost because that turbo isn't even trying yet. :)

Oof horrid is a bit harsh. I also did some logs with the old tune btw, and if you want horrid....i have horrid. By comparison this is great. Low bar and all. I'm just happy that there are no massive red flags.

Yeah should do 4th. Not easy though to get to the top of 4th on public roads here. I'll be getting some really good logs on the 17th at the track.

This is the low boost map. We decided against taking a risk and logging using the full fat one since it wasn't designed for this turbo. The high boost map should be around 30psi. Should put me just around the 700whp mark with E30/Meth. Should have that in the coming few days.

Interesting, i was thinking about DAW turbos, but after this thread, and doing some studying, it looks like they are definitely from china.

If that is the case, i might as well buy them from china, for the price daw is charging, i can get 2 of them lol.

Considering his lack of parts, he just sounds like an all round bad businessman. How hard is it to keep some parts and stock.

Is Pure's Turbos actually made in the US?

The DAW turbo is a good unit. Just a crap company as far as dealing with customers goes.

Just because sormthing is made in China doesn't make it inferior. China will give you what you pay for. Could be crap, could be great. Pure is the same. Manufactured in China, assembled in the US.

Would I rather have my pure800 turbo back? Yeah. I do hope they magically warranty it. But that's really mainly because I like them a lot more as a company, and they stand behind their product.

Yeah, im personally fine with Chinese products, as my business use their machines and they are great. Just slightly apprehensive, but from what i see, their quality have improved tremendously in the last 3-4 years.

Biggest thing is balancing. VW and Evo guys buy the cheap alibaba turbos and just get the wheels rebalanced before installing.

Gurney flap is on

Steering wheel didn't really work. The wheel is so small (310mm), so you can see the bottom part rubbing on the button housing. That's....fine i guess. But then the paddles are too close to my hands when they're gripping the wheel. There's barely any clearance there.

I'm still going to try to make it work. i've ordered different sized spacers, and longer bolts. The one's i currently use are m5x30mm and baaaarely reach. Trying 45mm and 50mm.

PXL_20260114_182647671.webp

If that still doesn't work, i do have a plan B. kInda. I think. Have this sim wheel on order and should be here in like a week. Unfortunately not in time for the race this weekend, but that's fine. It's 330mm wide, so the same as my current wheel. Not 100% about fitment, but i know the pcd is correct.

I'm also going to raise the car a bit tomorrow before the Saturday race. The new splitter just sits waaaay too low. Drove the car to work today, something i never do. Instant regret. Splitter scrapes everywhere. So does the rest of the car actually. So will jack it up by like 10mm.

Got a revised map from the tuner, so got to try the high boost map. Hit 26.8psi out of a 31 psi target. HPFP was capped. The map is also def not in it's final form. Was hoping i'd get another revision today after sending across some logs, but that didn't happen. Heading off to the track (and in this case, race) with a half baked car has become the story of my life at this point. I've become numb to this.

Raised the damn thing by 10mm initially and still looked too low to clear anything on the street, so up it went by another 15mm. Better. Still scrapes here and there, but nothing like before

1768579792339-zs.webp

Put these 35mm spacers between the wheel and the hub

1768579837669-2j.webp

Now have clearance between my hands and the paddles

1768579874971-vk.webp

Got to try it today, and oh man. This is it. I was worried a 310mm wheel would feel small, but for whatever reason this just felt fantastic to use. Not an ideal street wheel for obvious reasons, but this is going to feel great at the track

maxed out HPFP low/mid, correct? Because no way it's getting maxed at that boost level in the higher RPM range. What % of ethanol?
