Just following up on the above messages, ours is getting worse and had a few dangerous incidents. It's now happening at least a few times a week now, but no changes been made to the car. Still no recognition or fix from Toyota?

Did the gearbox remap eliminate the issue completely?

Just let the car warm up 3-5 minutes cold or hot and that should take care of of it.

I’ve never had this problem with this approach.

I used to experience the same throttle hesitation quite regularly in my early model Supra at low speeds including crossing oncoming traffic and in roundabouts which was worrisome and potentially dangerous. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they were able to update my ECU's firmware from the last update which was the 2021 brake recall, to 2024 when I got it done. This completely fixed the problem and I have not experienced throttle hesitation to this day.

Additionally, it also altered the steering and suspension tuning for the better, and there was also no more bump oversteer when going over bumps while turning. The JBL speakers had improved bass as well. However, the exhaust pops and bangs on stock tune became toned down a bit, including no more pops and bangs from start-up and for approx. 30 seconds after start-up.

Overall worth it if your dealership can get it done, but be aware and warned if you have third-party activated Apple CarPlay as any updates to the headunit will cause you to lose the CarPlay and brick your GPS/Sat Nav module. That was a huge headache to deal with.

Mine would get worse the longer I had the car from once a month all the way to every single day and I couldn't handle it from a safety prospective. My dealer updated the system and the problem was completely fixed but my auto stop start was permanently turn on and couldn't be coded out but could be turned off via button. I have a 22. The supra tech told me over the phone that it 100% is a recall but one thats only like a shadow recall which is stupid as hell. Using xhp is turn off auto stop start atm.

Thanks very much for the responses, glad you both got it sorted. Last time it was in for a service they couldn't replicate or find the issue and doubt they will. However, I'll use this post as evidence and push for software\firmware updates as it's really dangerous now. I'm in the UK, so may not be so easy.

Do you mind sharing which Toyota dealership you successfully had your firmware updated? We're struggling to get this done at our local dealerships and would be helpful to direct them to somewhere it's been done. Thanks in advance.
