Yep, except “dual storage“ 12V rather than 48V. Common (but not ubiquitous) on non-mild hybrid, G-series cars depending on how they’re configured.

With that said, I did some googling and had no idea the alarm has a dedicated battery! The information I found mentions a 10 year lifespan, but I don’t know if that’s accurate.

OK, so the answer should be… disarm the alarm before disconnecting the 12V battery. That did not seem to work for Op though.
Yea, the mild mild hybrid. ;) My 2022 330i had it. None of the G series M240's have it. The later MY M340i/M440i's have it.

One of the reasons I grabbed a M240 is it's the last of the G series M lites to not have any of the hybrid stuff, or the Gen 3 B58TU. It is a bigger heavier AWD Supra. :)

Yeah, I kind of regret not buying a G42 over the G20. Mine has the 48V mild hybrid, so that’ll be fun when the battery eventually fails. Pre-LCI interior ftw though.

Well, if it makes you feel better, the G20 is built better and more solid than the G42.

Wild, i didnt know the alarm battery was built into the siren. I guess it makes sense, the regular battery is easily accessible for thieves to disconnect. The siren is in a pain in the ass location
